The Guiding Light of Guruji: A Journey from Darkness to Spiritual Enlightenment

By Admin2 min read

I was born in the darkest ignorance, and my spiritual master opened my eyes with the torch of knowledge. I offer my respectful obeisance unto him.

Guruji’s grace has touched me in ways that are difficult to capture in words. I will try to express some of my personal experiences since my association with the Gaddi in Durban, South Africa. Through the grace of Guruji, I was introduced to the spiritual work of the ashram by my dear brother, Pravesh Prathap, who invited me to Sunday’s satsangs around 1998.

My early experience of Guruji’s power was felt through my meeting with Gobind Ji in 1999. This coincided with a medical setback that I suffered at the time, from which I recovered through the grace of Guruji. Clearly, my arrival at the Gaddi was destiny playing itself out. This was my first experience of his guiding and healing hand, and it had a profound impact on my devotion and continued association. I have been a regular attendee at Victoria Street Gaddi, and as my devotion grew, so did my spiritual consciousness and appreciation of Guruji as my spiritual mentor.

I have received his guidance when I needed to make difficult decisions and experienced his power when faced with failure. Guruji’s pictures are living symbols of his presence. He adorns my home, my office, and my person. He is a companion I can turn to whenever I need him. I feel his presence in simple and explicit ways at various times in my day.

I still have a long way to go on this journey of devotion. I believe that Guruji reveals only a part of his full power to us to attract us to the greater spiritual gains that lie beyond our material needs and wishes. We are all privileged to have this association and should take care not to lose or abuse his kindness and guidance. I sincerely try to apply the various spiritual guidelines imparted through satsangs in my everyday actions and thinking. It is difficult, but I keep at it with constant chanting and remembering.

I had the privilege of offering pranam and being in Guruji’s presence in June 2007. I can honestly say that this was a life-changing experience and the spiritual highlight of my life. I consider it a singular honor to have the association of our Satguruji. I offer my humble submission and pranam to him, over and over.
