Love

Beloveds,

As every month, today too there is a satsang (spiritual gathering) organized at your home. I have repeatedly mentioned that satsang means to embrace the truth, to embody meaningful words. Satsang is not about any kind of story or specific anecdotes. These other anecdotes are provided to embellish and adorn the true message. Otherwise, the truth is this:

Ek bhakt Bhagwan, jihi prani ke naahin man,
Jaise sukkar swan, Nanak maanhoon taahi tan

One who does not have devotion to God in their heart is like a pig or a dog.
Guru Nanak says, do not consider such a person’s body to be of any worth
Guru Nanak

Jeev Paramatma ke milan ke liye, Paramatma ka didar karne ke liye aaya hai,
Uske karmon ke anusaar acche ya bure, sukh ya dukh to saamne aate hi rahenge

The soul has come into this world to unite with the Supreme Soul and to behold the Divine. According to its actions, good or bad, happiness or sorrow will continue to appear before it.

The name has unique glory. All names belong to that supreme Brahman, the Supreme Soul. Baba Nanak Dev Ji was once sad

He was sitting and worrying about which name to chant, which name is the best, the one whose remembrance would bring him happiness, peace, and the attainment of the divine realm. At that time, his guru came and said, “Nanak! Why are you sad? Therefore, Nanak!”

Ram Rama Ram Rama Ram Rama ur dhariye,
Gobind Keshav Madan Gopal ek chhan na bisariye,
Binvant Nanak sarve ras karta bhakta ek Narayan

Chant and hold in your heart the name of Rama repeatedly.
Do not forget even for a moment Govind, Keshav, Madan, and Gopal (all names of Lord Krishna).
Nanak humbly prays that the true relish (of life) comes from devotion to the one Narayan (God).
Guru Nanak

This is the essence of Narayana. His form is Rama, his form is Krishna, his form is Govinda, his form is Madhava. He is encompassed in many forms or he transforms into many forms, meaning you can remember any of these names. There is no discrimination in names here; whether you chant Ram or Krishna, Govinda or Madhava or Shri, they are all the same.

A human bathes daily, eats, sleeps, and always remembers his beloved object. He does not forget his beloved object even for a second. Anyone who accumulates his earnings, gathers wealth, handles it twice, four times a day, touches it frequently when traveling to ensure it is still there.

In the same way, we possess a priceless treasure, a precious diamond. That is the human body. If we do not remember it repeatedly, this human body will merely become a factory for producing waste. Whether a person is a sleeper or a wakeful one, whether materialistic or not, whatever it is, the clean food offered to Lord Thakurji is consumed by the mouth, and as soon as it enters the intestines, it starts becoming waste. No matter how much pure water one drinks, after a short time, it turns into urine. If we do not think about this factory, it will remain a factory for producing waste, and we will not be able to do anything about it. We will keep producing waste and urine, eating through the mouth, and waste will keep forming inside and coming out. This process will continue if we do not pay attention to the human body. If we do pay attention to it, one department will become for producing waste, and it won’t matter. In the factory, many departments are created. One department for benevolence, one for purification, and one department for remembering God. In this way, one department for satsang (spiritual gathering) is also created. So, the factory for producing waste will remain, but it will not be related to that factory. Just as a factory keeps discharging its dirty water, in the same way, this waste is constantly being expelled; what difference does it make to us?

We limit ourselves to thinking that while our neighbor’s house has four dishes, I can only eat with green chilies. Today, they have four dishes, so I should have eighteen dishes. We get caught up in this cycle. This cycle exists only as long as there is breath. Whether we make our bodies stout and muscular or keep them slim, death is inevitable. Whether we die as wrestlers or keep an ordinary, clean body, death is certain. Ultimately, we have to die because this is called the mortal world. The true meaning of the mortal world is that whoever comes here will surely die, whether it is Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Lord Gopal, Ravana, or Lord Narasimha; Ravana came, or Alexander came; death is certain. This is the rule. That is why it is called the mortal world.

In this mortal world, we desire happiness; this is our limited intelligence. Here, we cry out of sorrow, which also shows our limited intelligence because this is neither the place of happiness nor the place of sorrow. Here, we do not find the definition of both happiness and sorrow.

Because the definition of happiness is in heaven and the definition of sorrow is in Yamaloka, in the department of Yamaraja Maharaja. At this time, we are neither dependent on Yamaraja nor are we in heaven; we are in the mortal world. The main duty in the mortal world is to perform karma (actions). Through noble actions, one can reach the divine world, cross the Girija river, and enter that world or the world that Lord Krishna describes in the Gita to Arjuna, saying, “O Arjuna! You know my worlds but you do not know my divine world.” Arjuna asked, “Which world, Maharaja?” Then the Lord says—

Na tad bhasayate suryo na shashanko na pavakah,
Yad gatva na nivartante tad dhama paramam mama

That supreme abode of Mine is not illumined by the sun, nor the moon, nor fire,
Those who reach it never return to this material world
Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 15, Verse 6.

Main chandra aur surya ka prarambhik karta hoon. Vahaan svayam prakaash phaila hua hai, divya jyoti, chaandni svayam phaila hua hai. Ushnata bhi vahaan nahin hai. Vahaan samasheetoshna hai. Yah jeev vahaan chala jaata hai to uska pravesh to hai par nivesh nahin hai. Arthaat yah jeev jab vahaan pravesh kar jaata hai…

I am the originator of the moon and the sun. There, self-luminous light is spread all around, divine radiance and moonlight are naturally present. There is no heat there; it is a place of perfect temperance. When a soul reaches there, it has an entry, but no return. That is to say, when a soul enters there…

I am the origin of the moon and the sun. There, self-luminous light spreads, divine light, moonlight spreads by itself. There is no heat there. There is a temperate climate. When a soul reaches there, its entry is certain but not its residence. That is, when this soul enters there.

How long does he stay there experiencing my bliss, for how many years? Now, a year does not mean two hundred or four hundred years. A year means that when our one month passes, it is one day for the ancestors. Our one month is one day for the ancestors, and when our twelve months pass, it is one day for the gods because six months the gods sleep, and in Kartik they wake up, which means their six months’ night and six months’ day. Our twelve months have passed. When twelve months pass for such gods, it is one day for Indra. Such an Indra has a lifespan of a hundred years. And in the reign of one Manu, fourteen Indras rule, which is one day of Brahma. That means when four billion three hundred twenty million years pass for this soul, it is one day of Brahma. And after many Brahmas pass, this soul continues to enjoy bliss in that divine realm.

We have come to the mortal world to perform karma (actions). Beloveds! In this mortal world, we have not come to enjoy happiness, nor to be afraid of sorrow. If we panic in sorrow, our journey will halt, and if we get delighted in happiness, we will indulge in pleasure, our path will be obstructed. The traveler will sit in the cool shade.

If it gets delayed by three hours, four hours, or if he falls into a deep sleep, the whole night passes, but his destination is not lost. Happiness is also an obstacle on our divine path, and sorrow is also an obstacle. Our only purpose in this world is to perform actions (karma). What kind of actions? It is left to your will by God whether you perform good deeds or bad deeds. Bad deeds result in hell, good deeds result in heaven, and surrendering oneself, which is called sharanagati, leads to the divine realm. Now this is a matter of personal choice. Everything is available for two and a half annas. This is society. Earlier, shops used to have items for two and a half annas. Now they might be for five rupees or six rupees. Inflation has increased. So everything will be available for two and a half annas. Here, everything is available for two and a half annas. If you commit sins, you will still use your intellect, work hard with your body, put in effort, and if you do good deeds, you will have to put in the same effort. But once you surrender, a strange game occurs. Then there is no need for effort. That God himself is obtained. So, we have come to the mortal world. After coming to the mortal world, we should buy the goods whose goodwill (reputation) is recognized here and there. The pleasures of materialism are limited to here only. When this life force…

When the soul leaves the body, it has to be immediately taken to Yamaloka. The messengers of Yama capture it. If we make a good deal, such as the good deal of the name of that Supreme Soul, doing good to others is the best deal, accepting religion is the best deal, then the attendants of Lord Hari will welcome us.

In our educated society, a misconception has spread. Doubts have arisen about whether God exists or not. But we must accept the existence of God, we must. I leave a symbolic question for the lovers of science. Man has made atom bombs, unique machines, various types of machinery. He has created ten horsepower, twenty horsepower engines, and cars. When humans have done so, I want to leave this question: can a car run without a driver? Suppose someone wants to argue. I will provide the argument myself: “Sir, a computer is now fitted; cars run with computers.” But does a computer run by itself? It is operated by a human. Every machine is operated and made by a human. Similarly, in this nature, millions and billions of universes are revolving — kotanikoto brahmand nikaya; and within this universe, immense powers are roaming and are as vast as the Earth.

There are satellites, and there are satellites larger than Earth. If they collide with each other, everything will end in an instant, or there will be a deluge and destruction in a moment. However, they do not collide with each other; someone must be controlling them. What you call a self-operating machine, still, it has an operator with it, even if it is self-operating. Suppose a computer orders an airplane to drop a particular atomic bomb at a specified location; the time is fixed. But someone must have fixed it, whether you call it nature or nature’s man. There is no objection from the Supreme Soul in calling it God or nature because His name is — nature meaning Shri Devi and man meaning Lord Narayana. Whether you call Him Narayana or Lakshmi, it doesn’t matter. So, my beloveds! You must accept this power that someone else is controlling it.

We experience sorrow daily. Why do we experience it? We have never thought about it. We just keep crying. Why are we crying? Because we have suffered some pain, we cry for that reason. But have you ever thought about whether we have ever remembered the one who can alleviate our pain? Have you called Him with a true heart? That Supreme Soul says, “O soul! Whenever you call me with compassion and lamentation.

If you call out, your call will not go unanswered. I will accept it, but you need to learn how to call out. We have learned to cry, but we haven’t learned to call out. And the crying we have learned is selfish crying, crying that my work should be done. If it doesn’t happen, we start crying, beating our chests and heads. We have learned selfish crying but haven’t learned to call out. Where there is a call, that Supreme Soul does not delay for even a moment; He comes very quickly. Did He not come when the elephant called out? Did He not come when the plover called out? Oh, we humans, we have come with such a vast human body. But look at the plover. When it cried out in distress that my eggs are left in the flood, protect my eggs from this flood! God! The Supreme Soul did not delay in hearing the cry of that plover. God protected its eggs. If the Supreme Soul can hear the cry and call of a small creature like the plover, won’t He hear ours? Let us consider, my science-loving friends! We are the treasure house of all virtues.

The immense wealth stored beneath the ground and above it, the Supreme Soul has given us the right to all of it, but we want to achieve it only by our own strength. Those who have achieved it by their own strength. They tried to achieve it on their own, and they were ultimately destroyed. Ravana tried to achieve it on his own, Hiranyaksha tried to achieve it on his own, Hiranyakashipu tried to achieve it on his own. Their fate is unknown to this day; they were completely destroyed, and their families were ruined. So, by relying on the Supreme Soul, by trusting that Lord, whatever work is done becomes successful, beautiful, and excellent. This is not a satsang, my beloveds, this is a message. Whenever my devotees gather, whether thousands or millions, I deliver this message because I am surviving on this message. Why the Supreme Soul has sent me here, no one knows. But I know that I have been sent to deliver the message. If I were conducting satsang, there would be no need for this gigantic ashram. If I consider it my private property, that cannot be. My name is not in it; how can it be? Secondly, I did not build it to make it a hotel or a workshop. Why the Supreme Soul is having this built, I do not know. But I know that He has sent me as a crier to announce His message. A time is coming when survival without this name will not be possible. Protection will not be possible without this name. That’s why it is said –

Dukh Bhanjan Tera Naam Ji

Your Name, O Lord, is the destroyer of sorrow
Guru Granth

We want to eliminate sorrows by working hard, earn money through labor, and experience happiness through effort. But I tell my beloved ones that if such a principle exists, do let this servant, this announcer know. If any task has ever been successful without the grace of the Lord, I accept that it might have been, but it must have been sorrowful. Self-earned wealth, self-earned state, self-earned title, all are sources of sorrow, whereas the items given by the Lord always bring happiness. Those who collected wealth, splendor, honor, and dignity through their own labor, their end ultimately became very miserable. Therefore, I wanted to say in context that there is a God, for sure. This law posed a question before people: consider that there is a God and when there is God, then we are His created beings.

Why don’t we see that God? Because we always turn away from Him. You know the meaning of turning away. In mathematics, 3 and 6 are two numbers. There are other numbers too, but we are giving the example of 3 and 6. If we write 6 first and then write 3, both 6 and 3 will face each other.

It became 63. And for the same, if we write 3 first and then 6, it becomes opposite – 36. We have learned to write 3 first. The meaning of 3 is that we need economic stability, we want happiness, we want grandeur. We want respect, we want praise. This first number 3 was presented before God, and then 6 was presented later. People say that they will do devotion later, when they are old. Listening to spiritual discourses is considered an activity for old people. For young children, the activities are watching movies, going to discos, attending parties, visiting Surajkund, and Badkhal Lake. When they get old, they will listen to spiritual discourses. 36 is happening. My beloved! Where is happiness in 36? It is not there. So, I want to say, my beloved, that this is my message. I am a messenger, not God.

You people call me Narayan Avatar, you praise Narayan Bhagwan. Although I am also happy that at least the name of Narayan is on everyone’s lips through this body of flesh and bones. I consider this my joy. The son of Ajatshatru was named Narayan. He loved his son, not God. At the time of death, a person calls out or remembers their beloved thing, this is the rule. At the time of death, when the messengers of Yama started appearing to him, he He called his son, not God – Narayan! Narayan! Narayan! Narayan! Narayan! While saying this, he passed away. A conflict arose between the attendants of Lord Shrihari Narayan and the messengers of Yamaraj. There was a fight among them. The attendants defeated the messengers of Yamaraj and took him to Lord Narayan. A meeting was held with Yamaraj, Dharmaraj, and Lord Narayan. Yamaraj said, “Injustice has been done to us, take my resignation, I don’t want to do this job anymore. Why should I do such a job? The world is terrified just by my name. People are scared, cry, scream, and shout when they come to Yamalok; I am stuck in this work. Why should I do such a bad job? Take my resignation, because your attendants have beaten our messengers, and have brought an unjust person here. A question was raised in the assembly. There were questions and answers, arguments and debates. The decision was that if the name of God comes out of a person’s mouth at the time of death, even by mistake, or out of affection for a son, or out of love for family, then the messengers of Yamaraj will not touch him.”

The verse:

Jam kankad ned na aavahe,
Jab sasna Hari gun gaava jee

The messengers of death do not come near when one sings the praises of the Lord, O beloved.

Lord Narayan said, “Ajamila called my name at the end.” Yamaraj said, “That is the name of his son.”

Lord said that I don’t know, but maybe there is someone else with my name. However, I heard my name being called. What a strange incident! Look, how mysterious is the play of that Supreme Being!

My feeling or message to my beloved ones is that I am beating the drum and repeatedly saying, even in errors or mistakes, keep remembering Him, do not forget to remember. Lord Krishna gave the same advice to Arjuna, “O Arjuna! Do not distance yourself from your duties, keep doing them. Never abandon the battle and always remember me.” This is my message, my beloved ones! If you accept this message, then I believe that you will not have to face Yamaraj. Yamaraj will wash your feet and drink that water. He will perform your aarti, and Yamaraj will not only be your protector, but he will guide you to that divine realm, showing the path to Girija, and will welcome you along the way. This is my message which you might say whenever you come to Shri Guru Maharaj, whether it be every month, every six months, whenever you come, during festivals or celebrations; this is what is being said. But my beloved ones! This is the main point.

If we forget to remember even after earning something, is that a good thing? The good thing is to keep earning.

Afterwards, keep it safe. Ensure it is not stolen by thieves, robbed by looters, or taken by bandits. If you forget, my beloved ones, if you forget, then what is left? Therefore, it is essential to keep the memory of this human body. This servant beats the drum everywhere to give this message on the harmonium, on the tabla, shouting out loud, in every way, whether by dancing, singing, or beating the drum.

Nowadays, advertisements are trending to drum up things, with drummers, singers, dancers, all coming together to advertise. I am doing the same. I play the harmonium, play the tabla, in any way to make people understand my message. If no one listens, I even dance. Brothers! Listen like this. This drumbeater holds public meetings, street meetings, and other gatherings to beat the drum for this message. Call it a satsang or a meeting. Remember this drumbeat and the message that it is the duty of humans to do good deeds and to remember Lord Shri Hari Narayan. Do not forget this. There is no way to get by forgetting it. This is my drumbeat. My work is to convey this message to you all.

It feels bad because you have heard it many times. Many devotees are saying that they have heard this many times. But listening has no benefit until we put it into practice, which is called “practical” in English. Until we make it practical, keep listening. When you start practicing it, I will stop telling. When I know that now it has become practical, only then will I take you to the next class. Right now, in the old class, repeatedly, the alphabets are being written; Alif, Be, Pe, Te are being written; A, B, C are being written; because the pure letters have not been achieved yet.

My beloved ones! It is very important to have love in humans. Without love, that Supreme Being does not understand any language. Narada Ji asked the Supreme Being, “Maharaj! With which hymns should I worship you, should I do your recitation, should I speak in Sanskrit or any other language, should I pronounce from the Vedas, or from Vedanta, or from Shrimat, or through the Upanishads, how should I do it? Please tell me. For your happiness, I can do everything.”

The Lord said, “Narada! I am illiterate. I have learned only one language, I do not know any other.”

Narada Ji said, “Lord! You are present in every atom and particle, yet you say you know only one language! Humans can learn six languages, sixteen languages, twenty-five languages, and you say you have learned only one language.” The Lord replied, “Yes, yes, Narada! I know only one language.” Narada asked, “Which language is it, Maharaj?” The Lord said, “The language of love. Whether you say ‘I am sorry,’ ‘Thank you,’ I know you are thanking me. Whether you sing mixing Hindi and English, it doesn’t bother me. Whether it is a cocktail language, pure English, Urdu, or any other, I understand. I do not understand anything else. Without love, you can recite the Vedas; I do not know, I do not understand. I understand it as a frog croaking. Without love, you can chant the Vedanta, Shrimadhya, in various languages, I do not listen, I do not know. I know only the language of love.”

Ramahi keval prem piara,
Jaan lehu so jaananhaara

Lord Rama is only pleased by pure love; know this, O wise one
Ramcharitmanas

Whoever has understood this, is worthy of knowing it, or is trying to understand it, is my beloved, says Lord Shri Ram himself.

When the language of love arises in a human, God becomes their servant, their charioteer, or driver. It’s a play of words. Earlier, they used to say charioteer, now they say driver. He becomes a driver, he surrenders himself. He starts farming. Dhana Jat farmed for twelve years. He grazed his goats, grazed his cows, and milked them. He used to wake up and feed milk to Dhana Jat, give him curd to eat. He danced in Meera’s dreams. He danced in front of ordinary Gopis, in front of the women of Brij, and endured their beatings as well. He accepted abuses and even gladly accepted the distortion of his name. If I distort your name, you would say, “Maharaj! You are a guru in your place, but how did you distort my name, how did you spoil it, we will fight, we will beat, we will do anything.” And Lord Krishna, being overcome with love, began to be called Kalua, Kaliya, Murlidhar, and Makhanchor.

If I call you a thief, you will leave the satsang. If I call you a thief, you won’t stay for a minute, and indeed we are thieves. There is no doubt in it. We belong to that Supreme Being, to nature, to every thin, We are stealing from it. From it, we are producing. We say we have advanced in science. Oh, good man, how have you advanced? You have stolen from the things of God, from the things of nature. If you have made an atom bomb, you have only gathered the rays of the sun created by Lord Shri Narayan. Where did you bring it from? We might say that there is air in the fan, but that is our mistake. The fan is a thief. If there is no air in the room, where will the fan bring air from? Let the air in the atmosphere stop, and then keep running the fan. So, we are the thieves. But I don’t want to say it, maybe you will take offense. We are stealing His things, looting, but not taking His name, what bigger theft can there be? So, even calling God a thief doesn’t make Him angry. He used to dance, drink buttermilk, and endure beatings. The beatings of Gulcha were so severe that his cheeks would turn red, but he wouldn’t say anything. Why? Because that complete Brahman, that supreme being, was enduring it because He is a worshiper of love. God said, I know the mantra of love, I accept love. Therefore, love is essential in humanity.

Love takes three forms – Tamasic, Rajasic And Sattva. Tamasic love is when I need something from you, so I hug you close. My disciples! My followers! You are my God, my everything. And after my selfish needs are fulfilled, I don’t know where you are. This is selfish love. It does not please God even slightly; rather, it displeases Him. Rajasic love is when you love me, and I give you something in return. This is a transaction. It becomes a mutual deal. I gave money, you gave goods. I gave goods, you gave money, work is finished. God is pleased with Sattvic love. Sattvic love is different; it has no desires, no demands, no conditions. Where there are conditions and demands, that is a trade, not love. And where there are no demands, it is called one-sided love. God says, you love me one-sidedly. I will give you whatever you desire. This is my job. If you love me and I do not give, then I will be the sinner; I will be the guilty one. My vows will be destroyed. God never lets His vows be destroyed. God says, love me and see.

We do love, but it accumulates carbon. What kind? Carbon of desires. When carbon gets on the wire, no matter how expensive the wire is—whether it is made of copper, gold, silver, or any other material—once carbon accumulates, the electric current cannot pass through. Where there is carbon, the vehicle stops. What happened? They say the battery is not charging. Why is the battery not charging? The machine that generates electricity is running. When carbon accumulates on the battery, a skilled driver cleans it with hot water or a knife, enduring pain and gaining relief, and removes it. Once cleaned, the vehicle starts running again. Similarly, when the carbon of desires accumulates in our hearts, the divine power of God cannot reach us. If we remove that carbon of desires once and remember Him, surely the power of that Supreme Being will come within us. That power is called peace. That power is called prosperity. That power is called abundance. Prosperity is not a separate thing, abundance is not separate. They are synonyms of the Supreme Power. Where there is power, there is abundance. However, the carbon we accumulate prevents us from attaining that power, and we start blaming God and saints. Oh, we have been attending satsang at Siddhadata Ashram on the mountain for so many days. We are going to listen, yet our work is not done. This means you have accumulated more carbon. Remove the carbon and see how the electricity flows. It will reach immediately. It doesn’t even take a second. Not even a fraction of a second.

Love is very essential in human life. Mahatma Buddha was traveling with his disciples for propagation and dissemination. Baba people always travel for propagation. They were also going. A disciple asked, “O respected one, O Guru Maharaj! We are dedicating our lives for the welfare of the world; we are taking care of all kinds of comforts for them; we are engaged in their service; yet the worldly beings disrespect us, insult us, call us frauds, thieves, bad people.” He asked once, asked twice. Mahatma Buddha did not say anything. He kept walking calmly on his path. When it was noon, everyone felt thirsty. Mahatma Buddha also felt thirsty, and so did the disciples. They saw a nearby well and stopped. There they saw a bucket and a rope lying, and the water was good. Mahatma Buddha gave an answer. What answer? He gave an order, “Son! Draw water from it and quench everyone’s thirst quickly.”

The same person who was doubting, not doubting, questioning. He was doing it; it was his turn, he left. Now he drew the bucket filled with water, but by the time he brought it up, the bucket would be empty. He did this dozens of times, but not a single drop of water remained in it. He became despondent. Mahatma Buddha said, “Son! There is no need to be despondent. Think about the fact that there are holes in this bucket. This bucket is full, there is no lack of water, there is a well, a rope, and a bucket, but there are holes in the bucket. By the time the bucket reaches the top, it becomes empty through these holes. That is why my thirst cannot be quenched. How can it be?” Mahatma Buddha said only this much and stopped. He did not speak further. He had a water pot. He tied the water pot with a rope and drew water from the well, quenching everyone’s thirst with that water pot. The disciple said, “Maharaj! This water pot quenched everyone’s thirst, though it is small.” Mahatma Buddha said, “It has no holes. It comes up filled.” Finally, Mahatma Buddha said, “O my disciple! O my dear one! As long as this human body is filled with lust, anger, pride, greed, attachment, jealousy, desires, and selfish feelings, these are the holes in this body. As long as these holes exist in the body, it cannot experience the joy of that power, of love. To experience the joy of love, the vessel must be without holes. My water pot is without holes, it is quenching everyone’s thirst. Therefore, even for a short time, we must approach the Supreme Being with selfless feelings, with ‘I am yours alone’.”

“If we love with the feeling that ‘I am yours and you are mine,’ even if it is just for twenty-four minutes in twenty-four hours, twelve minutes, or even six minutes, that love is enough, and if we keep that love throughout the day, it is even better. But even if we manage to do it for six minutes, it is not bad; it is very good.

We say, ‘Oh Lord! We believe in you. Baba! We believe in you.’ But before believing, we present thousands of desires, think about this too. These are the holes. They prevent the experience of love. After the task is destroyed, after the task is accomplished, or if it is not accomplished, that love does not remain. We have loved with desires, not with God. We have loved with selfishness. We are traders, taking this and giving that. You and I will not be able to enjoy that love. Joy is only where there is no selfishness. If he is worthy, strong, impartial, and powerful in every way, he will never let the value of your love be wrong. He will repay the value of love. Didn’t Lord Krishna repay the value of love to the Gopis? He not only kept them joyful but also gave them his divine abode.

Loving that Supreme Being is never in vain. But we lose a Kohinoor diamond in exchange for glass. It’s like a child holding a Kohinoor diamond, which doesn’t shine much. It doesn’t shine much, and a diamond made of glass shines brightly. Based on that shine, we trade the real diamond for glass. What I mean to say is that the worldly, social pleasures are like glass. They are like dew drops; seeing the dew drops, we break the pot. What is the pot? The body. And what is the water inside it? It is filled with the love of that Supreme Being, taking waves, taking peace. But for that peace, for that wave, we break the pot with lust, anger, pride, attachment, greed. If you go to the garden in the morning, you will see beautiful dew drops in various colors like green, yellow, and many other hues. They are very beautiful. Seeing that beauty, we broke the old pot, and went after those drops that disappear after sunrise; not a single one remains. The meaning of sunrise is to awaken the sun of knowledge in the body and see if these are lasting. If they are not lasting, then we should love that Supreme Being who is everlasting and He Himself will give it to us. Do parents give sorrow to their children? Oh, they steal and even by begging, even by lying to the neighbor, they feed their children milk. They bring things of their need. It’s a simple thing. Will the Supreme Father, the Supreme Soul, give us sorrow?

To define love, Mahatma Buddha began to explain to his disciple, “Oh son! Where there is lust, anger, greed, attachment, and jealousy, where there are desires, there are holes. Because of these holes, water cannot provide satisfaction, meaning these holes must be closed.”

A person who loves does not seek value in it. A person who loves never shows off. A person who loves never desires respect. A person who loves never desires to be worshiped. Such a person is desireless. He loves unconditionally. A devotee says to God, “I may love you, but you do not need to love me.” God replied, “Fool, after so many days of devotion, is this what you are asking for?” The devotee said, “Yes, I am a fool, and this is exactly what I will ask for.” God asked, “Why?” The devotee replied, “Because the intoxication of your love will make me arrogant. When the intoxication of your love takes over me, I will become arrogant that I am a devotee, I am a teacher, I am the world teacher, I am Jagadguru Ramanujacharya, I am sitting on a golden throne, I am giving discourses. I may ask, but you should not give me anything. If I ask,  I will ask, but you must refuse me. Why? Because people will start calling me a beggar at your door. They will not call me a lover, they will not call me someone who loves. If I have taken the price of love, then what is my love worth? We value the price beforehand. Raj (the name of a disciple) sings many times, “Mother, get my lottery, build my house, get my car, and get me a government job, then I will come to you.” Oh, good people! You have already made small conditions with her. You have already brought in carbon. Who knows what she might give. You talk about a car, she might give you an airplane. You talk about a lottery of one lakh, she might make you the lord of the universe, make you the king here, make you a minister, who knows what she can give.

Love has no price, and love has no value. The world has always thrown stones at those who love. Majnu loved Laila, and people threw stones at him. Didn’t they? Even today, if someone is engrossed in love, whether it is materialistic love, love of the flesh, love for God, or love for a guru, when someone is intoxicated with love, the world laughs and calls them names. “That person is a fool, he has gone mad, he has left all his work…”

He doesn’t pay attention to his work, he doesn’t pay attention to his home, and he got involved with that Baba. Baba gave him some herb that made him mad. From the beginning, from Satyuga to today, there has never been a shortage of people throwing mud at those who love. Even Meera was not spared by people. Neither was Sita spared. Neither was Radha spared. Nor were the Gopis spared. Those who have loved have been disrespected and scorned in the world. But my beloved, accept this fact that the world will give me nothing. From the world, I can obtain the pleasures of materialism, but the supreme joy is given by someone else. If the world laughs at loving Him, let it laugh, that is the essence of love. When such love bursts forth from the heart, God, Guru, or Saint does not delay even for a moment; they become yours. This definition of love should come within us.

A person who loves never accepts disrespect, respect, reputation, or disrepute. He remains equanimous. In my organization, I see that there are many such gentlemen, if they are slightly disrespected or someone says a little something to them, or if something is said to maintain order, so they stop coming to satsang. They break all connections here. They do not even accept coming here. But that is their misfortune. They are foolish. Hard sorrow is written in their fate. They think such things in the midst of loving. Those who love this ashram, this guru, if anyone disrespects them, let them. Their love is not dependent on those who disrespect them. Their love is from their own place, their love is with their guru, and even if the ashram and guru disrespect them a million times, their feeling should still be that “I love you, whether you love me or not, that is your choice.” This is what is called one-sided love. One friend asked another friend, “How much do you love me?” The other gave a very simple answer—

Mere dil mein to tu hi basa hai,
Par tere dil ki jaane Vidhata

You alone reside in my heart, but only the Creator knows what is in Your heart

He Bhagwan tere man ki baat ko tu jaane,
Mere dil mein to tu hi basa hua hai. Iska naam hai pyaar,
Is jagah se, us Paramatma se, us Paramatma ki aagya se mujhe pyaar hai

O Lord, only You know what is in Your mind. You alone reside in my heart, and this is called love. I have love for this place, for that Supreme Soul, and for the command of that Supreme Soul.

Leaving the world of luxury like Delhi, I have come to this mountain. I too had not known less luxury in Delhi. Leaving everything behind, its I have loved by the command of my master. After coming here, people have called me irrational, fanatical, and who knows what else. They are still saying things, but I don’t care because I only care about the command of my master; let anyone say anything.

My beloved ones! I have seen in society that with a few harsh words, with a few words against them, by not agreeing with them a little, by not walking on their prescribed path, they stop coming. If there is a slight shortfall in fulfilling their desires, they stop coming. Such people do not know how to love; it is their misfortune. The fortunate ones are those who say, “You can keep me hungry, or you can keep me naked, it’s your will, but I am yours.” Fortunate Baba Nanak Dev Ji said—

Paani dohaan, pankha jhalaan, de de soyi soyi khaawaan

I will draw water, fan you, and eat whatever you give me

Oh Lord! I am a servant at your door, I am your bard, if you give, I will eat, if not, I will die hungry at your door. It will be your disgrace that Nanak died hungry. Where did he die? He died at the temple door; he died serving Thakur Maharaj. How did he die? He died serving. He used to offer fifty-six kinds of food to Thakur Ji, but Nanak died. My does not deteriorate. I will keep fetching water, I will keep fanning you, and whatever you give, I will eat it. If you don’t give, I will still rejoice and chant “Jay Jay Hari.” This is called love. If we love like this, my beloved ones, that God will not be even slightly away from us.

People say that we are going to Mathura to find God, to Vrindavan to find God, to Kashi to find God. That God is not only of Kashi, He is not only a resident of Vrindavan. His name is present in every atom, in every particle, in every speck. That Supreme Being’s name is impartial. That Supreme Being’s name is omnipresent, meaning He is present in everything. He is everywhere. Will you find Him only in Vrindavan? If He could only be found in Vrindavan, then, my beloved ones! Due to the crowd in Vrindavan, people would start dying daily. That is not the case. Wherever Meera was, Krishna was present there. When Prahlad called out, He tore apart the pillar and, assuming the form of Narasimha, protected him. Was He not in that pillar? That God is omnipresent. He is not limited to one country; He is not confined to one area; He is omnipresent and does not need to be searched for. One just needs to love Him. When you love Him, He takes physical form and embraces you, and the devotee does not cry, God Himself starts crying.

How strange this game is! Just think about it. Prahlad did not cry at all; it was Narasimha whose eyes were filled with tears, saying, “Son! I came very late. Oh my son Prahlad! Forgive me, I was late. You endured so much suffering for so long, forgive me, pardon me,” and started crying. How strange is the play of that God! When Narasimha was a little late in getting rice, Rukmini was taken away, Satyabhama was taken away, and everyone was taken away. It was said for Naini Bai, “She is your sister-in-law.” She who is the mother of the world, divine, performing divine acts, is being made the sister-in-law of worldly women and being prayed to, saying, “Oh merchant! Oh my Narasimha Seth! Forgive me, I am your clerk. I was busy with some work, I came late and this fifty-six crore wealth I have given here, it is the interest of your interest. Your principal and interest are still deposited with me. How merciful is God and how vast is His interest! Look! But we do not even know how to take that interest. We do not know how to deposit it. Before depositing, we withdraw it. We take advances and after taking advances, we never think of returning them. Some lovers are such that after believing in many places, they do not fulfill them. They take advances, and then, what will you take from us? Moving forward to another If it is there, we will take it from him. Our humanity has become like this, and then we say that we do not find the Supreme Being.

My beloved ones! I would just say that love is very necessary for human life. And what kind of love? The one that is free of carbon. It should not have any carbon on it. It should not have any impurities. It should be pure love. Pure love is called that which does not have the qualities of sattva, rajas, and tamas. That is, if you love for a little while, you will always buy God. Then, do whatever you want in love. Hit, beat, do whatever you want. Once you earn it, we start asking from it even before earning. What to do? So today’s topic of my satsang is love. And what kind of love? Pure love. In the peaceful nature of love, there will definitely be a vision of God, it happens. It does not have ego; because ego was in Ravana, poor fellow was killed. Ego was in the relatives of Lord Krishna, Aniruddha, Pradyumna, etc., God got them killed beforehand, right in front of Him. Ego came in Arjuna, who was the dearest, the closest friend, the best friend, the brother-in-law, and the brother. There were so many relationships, and he was a disciple. When ego came, it was killed by the Bhils. It has also been said—

Bali purush nahin hote hain, samay hota balwaan,
Bheelan looti Gopika, wahi Arjun wahi baan

It is not the strong men who are powerful, but time that is powerful. The same Arjuna, with the same arrows, could not prevent the Gopis from being plundered by the Bhils

Arjuna was such a great archer that the sound of his bow could cause pregnant women to miscarry. The Bhils were robbing the Gopis and Arjuna stood watching. God is the witness. I do not take pride in it. But my beloved ones! Whoever has remembered this declaration with good intentions, maybe it took just a moment for them to come here and bear their calamities on themselves so that you can enjoy bliss. What is this? This is love. If that love had carbon, if it had desire, then it would not be. Therefore, love without any desire will always give you happiness, peace, and bliss. This is what I mean to say.

During this, a devotee asked, “Guruvar, after joining the ashram, how can an ordinary devotee receive special grace?” Guru Maharaj Ji’s answer was—

My beloved! There was a scholar. He narrated a Ramayana story and everyone listened with great love. The story ended, and then a question arose, “Maharaj Ji, tell us, was the demon Ram or Ravana?” Oh brother? It is such that neither Ram nor Ravana was the demon. In the demon was there. So my beloved! When I have been talking about today’s topic for so long, saying that selfless love and selfless service, which do not require money, need the body, need intelligence, need the mind, then leave the money; with true affection from the body, mind, you will become the foremost entitled to that love, to that vision, and to that grace after joining this ashram. I have just said it, and perhaps today I have posed this question for that reason, I speak only on love. Those who seek the grace of this ashram, the grace of this Baba Ji, will not get it by oil massage, boot polish. This is the physical body, bones, and flesh, what will it give? Join here with affection, serve selflessly, and come with selflessness. The selflessness should be like that of Shabari, who served in the ashram of Matanga Rishi for twelve years without showing herself. Matanga Rishi did not know who was cleaning around the hut. Who was cutting and placing the wood every day. Matanga Rishi did not know for twelve years because he was engrossed in penance. He did not have enough time to see. When he thought about who it was that cleaned the ashram, who placed the wood, he kept a watch all night. Quietly, at Brahma Muhurta, Shabari came and with her veil, not with a broom, the will touch feet, swept with her veil, and the bundle she had tied up, placed it nearby, and was about to leave quietly when Matanga Rishi called out, “Who is it?” She fell silent. She said, “Oh Lord! I don’t know who I am. I came to the forest for this knowledge, to know who I am.” Matanga Rishi said, “I will tell you who you are. From today, arrangements for your ashram have been made.” So, my beloved! Gurus are not pleased by wealth. Wealth pleases only the entertainers and the bearded ones. I am neither an entertainer nor bearded. I am Dhindorechi. My full salary is received from above. The great government has provided me with a full salary. Why would I rob or take bribes from you, just tell me that. And whatever you give, I deposit it as F.D. (Fixed Deposit) in the house of the Supreme Being, saying that a certain person has done this. So, my beloved ones! The question you asked, I have answered it in one word: selfless feeling, pure love, and service with body and mind. If you don’t have wealth, it’s okay. There is no need for a lot of wealth. Whoever serves this ashram with body and mind and selfless feeling will receive the most love, the most vision, and the greatest prosperity. This is my definite statement and a statement of my promise.

A disciple requested Guru Maharaj to recite a hymn of Meera.

Guru Maharaj explained that Meera had adopted renunciation for God. She started meditating on the Lord, became delighted in satsang (spiritual gatherings), and began singing praises of His name. However, she did not find a guru in her life, which made her sad. When she arrived in Vrindavan, she expressed her curiosity to meet Goswami Maharaj. She asked the servants to inform Maharaj that Meera had come to meet him. Goswami Maharaj replied that he does not meet women or see their faces, indicating that he did not want to meet Meera. Meera responded that it was alright and told them to convey that she always considered God as the only man, questioning if another man had been born in the world. The supreme man is God, and the rest are puppets. Hearing this, Goswami Maharaj came immediately. Meera said that she had come to accept him as her guru. Maharaj accepted her as a disciple, and Meera felt greatly blessed and began to dance with joy.

“My auspicious days are those when I meet my guru. My happy days are those when I meet my guru.”

Jal ki tarang uthe jal maahi,
Jal mein hi gayi hai samaai,
Gehri nadiya naav purani khevatiya bandhaaye dheer ri,
Paar utar kar main nahin jaaun, kaun bandhaaye dheer ri,
Meera ke Prabhu Giridhar Nagar, dharyo joganiya bhes ri,
Aaj mhane Satguru mil gaya, yah dukhiyaaro des ri

The waves rise from the water and merge back into it,
In the deep river, the old boatman holds his patience,
I will not cross over; who will give me courage?
Meera’s Lord, Giridhar Nagar, has taken the guise of a yogi,
Today I have met my True Guru, in this land of sorrows
Meera Bhai

It is true that knowledge cannot be attained without a guru. You may be a scholar, a religious teacher, but you cannot attain that Brahman. Baba Nanak Dev himself became a guru, imparting various kinds of teachings, but finally, he said this –

Jagadishwar ghat ghat poor rahe mere jeevan praan,
Bhav bandhan mere mite, jab mantra diyo Guru kaan,
Aao sakhi gao badhaavna,
Aaj mere ghar badhaai gao. Aaj mujhe us Param Brahm ko dikhane wala Guru mil gaya hai. Wahi Meera ne kaha

The Lord of the Universe pervades every heart; He is the life-breath of my soul,
My worldly bonds were broken when the Guru whispered the mantra in my ear,
Come, friends, sing songs of celebration,
Today, sing auspicious songs in my home. Today, I have found the Guru who reveals the Supreme Brahman to me. This is what Meera said

Narayana Narayana Narayana
