Message To Humanity

Dear ones! Here is our message about human life. Human life is very peculiar. The Vedas, the Puranas, the histories, and our ancestors and saints have expressed their thoughts in their own languages. They all concluded that human life is the only meaningful life if humanity is embraced. Saint Tulsidas loudly proclaimed in his scripture, beating the drum repeatedly, saying:
Saadhan Dhaam Moksh Kar Dwaara,
The body is the means to attain salvation,
Nar Tan Paay Na Parlok Sahaara
Having obtained a human body, there is no other support in the afterlife.
This human life is a treasure trove of means; it is the abode of resources. After obtaining human life, if one does not adorn that world, does not cleanse it, does not establish one’s virtues in that world, does not create one’s place in that world, it is as if one has lost and destroyed human life. Then nothing remains with him.
Sohi Para Dukh Paavein Sir Dhuni Dhuni Pachhitaya,
Such a person suffers greatly, beating his head in regret,
Kaalahin Karmahīn Isavahin Mithya Dosh Lagaya.
Blaming time, deeds, and God falsely
Nothing will remain with him except crying and screaming, and for many cycles, that soul will continue to wander through various life forms, experiencing suffering.
An example of a cycle, my dear ones! It is very long and extensive. The Kali Yuga lasts for 432,000 years. The Dwapara Yuga of Krishna lasted for 864,000 years. The Treta Yuga of Lord Shri Rama lasted for 1,728,000 years, and the Satya Yuga lasted for 3,456,000 years. Adding up these four periods, we get the duration of one Manu’s reign, which is 14,480,000 years. Fourteen such Manus reign one after another, and that is called a kalpa. Now you can calculate how much time has passed. For that duration, the soul resides in hell.
The soul will continue to plead in front of the Supreme Being, saying, ‘I couldn’t remember you because of your lack of grace. What can I say, Lord? It was not in my destiny, I did not have time.’ Apart from these statements, the soul will be unable to say anything else there. However, none of these three excuses will be heard there. The soul will have to endure the suffering of living in hell.
For many years, this soul remains in the torment of hell. Then the Supreme Being takes pity on the soul. When His heart melts with compassion, He decides to give the soul another chance.
Kabahunk Karuna Kar Nar Dehi,
Sometimes, out of compassion, the Supreme Being grants a human body without any reason out of pure affection
Deh Ees Binu Hetu Sanehi
That loving God, the Supreme Being, after a long time, grants a human body to the soul. After receiving a human body, the soul again falls into delusion, attachment, pride, envy, arrogance, lust, anger, and greed, ultimately ruining its life.
The greatest obstacle to our spirituality is attachment. When the soul becomes bound by attachment, it gradually begins to forget the Supreme Being. It starts forming new relationships like mother, father, uncle, etc., and gets entangled in the attachment of these relationships.
Moh Sakal Byadhin Kar Moola,
Attachment is the root of all ailments,
Taate Upjahin Bahu Vidhi Shoola
From it arise many kinds of pains
The obstacle to spirituality, the obstacle to contemplating God’s name, the obstacle to attending satsang, and the obstacle to participating in spiritual gatherings is attachment. A person thinks, “Oh sir! What will we do in satsang today? Let’s finish this task; my work will be ruined, I can attend satsang tomorrow.” They do not consider that this task can also be done tomorrow, but there might not be a satsang tomorrow. This is attachment. All attachments to family and other relations keep us away from satsang and God. The root cause of all obstacles is attachment. Human life is tied to the post of attachment, just as an animal is tied to a post. The poor animal stays hungry, thirsty, and in whatever condition it is. This is the main reason for the obstacle. We should start reducing this obstacle gradually; reducing does not mean eliminating.
Just like a lotus leaf cannot live without water, it cannot grow without water and cannot stay away from water. However, the lotus is not affected by water because it has no attachment to it. It only uses water for nourishment. Similarly, we should only rely on society and relationships to fulfill our duties. When we become attached, all kinds of obstacles arise. Whether there are obstacles or not, the greatest obstacle is forgetting God.
We cannot achieve spiritual knowledge, nor can we recognize reality. We remain stuck with materialism—bones, flesh, excrement. This body of flesh and bones cannot accompany us beyond the grave. Therefore, we should gradually reduce our attachment.
In this world, excessive friendship is harmful, and excessive enmity is also harmful, because –
Milat Ek Daarun Dukhdahela,
“Meeting brings immense sorrow and pain,
Bichhurat Ek Praan Har Lela
Separation takes away one’s very life”
If we become too attached to materialism, when separation occurs, it will take away our life force. We won’t be able to sleep, eat, or drink properly, and we’ll cry out in distress all day. Separation snatches away life force, and meeting also snatches away life force. If we harbor enmity, when the enemy appears, it takes away life force, and when a loved one departs, it takes away life force. Both are life-threatening. Oh, whether someone takes life force later or earlier, both are lethal.
Both are causes of sorrow. Therefore, we must bring both affection and enmity to an equal level. Once they are balanced, spirituality awakens on its own; there isķ no need to awaken it. It arises naturally and humans reach that level of wisdom. In reality, it is not ours, it is that. Awakening starts to occur naturally, but the veil of attachment covers this awakening.
We make resolutions to worship God every day, to recite fifty rosaries daily. I am not talking about you, I am talking about myself. I say every day that I need to recite 1000 rosaries, but what will become of this human body? However, I have nurtured too much love. When loved ones come, the rosary has to be thrown away. Love has become the cause of my sorrow. We cannot take the name of God. The reason for this is worldly love. If we have enmity with someone, we have to throw away the rosary and be ready to fight with the enemy. Both love and enmity are the biggest enemies of spirituality.
Living with equanimity is the highest characteristic of saints. Wearing the attire of a saint does not make one a saint. A true saint is one who has good intelligence, virtuous conduct, and high thoughts.
Be wise and be conscious. Wearing special types of clothes does not make one a saint. Clothes are worn as an identification. The government has prepared various types of uniforms for identification, like the khaki uniform of the police department. Even within that, there are different uniforms for constables, sub-inspectors, superintendents of police, etc. Similarly, the army, air force, and navy have their distinct uniforms. There are also different uniforms according to rank. If we look at postmen, their uniform is also distinct.
Earlier, postmen used to carry a stick with a bell. They walked with a chiming sound. This was also a form of identification that they were postmen carrying government mail. Hence, thieves, dacoits, or goons stayed away from them, knowing they were government employees. Different departments have different uniforms. These are our uniforms. However, a true saint is one who has noble thoughts, good conduct, and high ideals. Such a person is called a saint.
A true sage is one whose words are noble, whose soul is virtuous. One who renounces everything is called a renunciant, regardless of whether they are a householder, an ascetic, a saint, or anyone else.
Even the great renunciates like King Janak, Sage Vashistha, and Vishwamitra were householders. They embraced detachment and supreme saintliness. But, my dear ones, this saintliness and detachment will come only when the amount of attachment decreases. As long as there is attachment, the bond of actions (karma) cannot be cut, because where there is attachment, there is bound to be action. Where there is a bond of action, there is certainly a cycle of birth and death. If you perform sacrifices, you will have to come to enjoy their fruits. If you give charity, you will have to come to enjoy the fruits of charity. If you commit misdeeds, you will have to come to suffer their consequences because the bond of actions does not break. It continues – good or bad. The bond of action lasts as long as there is attachment, and when a human is free of attachment, they will still perform actions but will say, “Oh Lord! Or Oh Guru! I dedicate this to you – this is an offering at your lotus feet.” They have made an FD (Fixed Deposit). They have made a fixed deposit. Then, they are not bound by the actions. Once the fixed deposit is made, it is up to them whether they come to perform the actions or not.
I often say in satsang that if we have to move our shop from a city or a neighborhood and we owe someone money, the shop will not move. People will cling to us and say, “Where are you going, thieves, robbers, swindlers; first give us our money, then move the shop. Where are you taking the goods?” And if we want to take our shop worth one or two lakhs of rupees from that neighborhood, it is our choice when we want to do it. Will anyone stop us saying, ‘Sir! Take the money and go.’ We will turn the rosary and think it’s good that it’s gone. So as long as we desire to perform certain actions for heaven or for some other wish, the bond of karma will remain.
Kshane Puye Martyaloke Vishanti
When their merit is exhausted, they return to the mortal world
We will have to come back here again. It is attachment that binds us in the bond of karma. If we reduce the amount of attachment, we will perform sacrifices and say, ‘Oh Lord! I offer this to you.’ Just like a disciple would bring whatever alms he collected, or even in today’s age, he offers it at the feet of the guru. This ancient practice has been followed by our teachers from the beginning that whatever wealth or goods the disciple brings, he should offer it at the feet of the guru – ‘I offer this to you.’ Whether the guru gives it to them or not, keeps them hungry or naked, it was his duty. The disciple benefited from this because he did not get entangled in the bond of karma. Oh, if a beggar came, he would say, ‘Our guru knows,’ just as our Sanjay Mahatma Ji would say, ‘Guru Maharaj knows.’
The relationship of the soul with God is somewhat similar. When we surrender to Him, our responsibility ends. Imagine if we go to a thieves’ colony and hand over our belongings to the leader of the thieves, saying, ‘Here, keep our belongings with you.’ Then our fear of theft ends, and we can sleep peacefully. If we do not surrender, as soon as we wake up, our hand will reach for the belongings to check if they are still there or taken by someone. We won’t be able to sleep the entire night because we haven’t surrendered. If we come to the thieves’ colony and hand over the goods to the leader of the thieves, dear ones, there is no danger.
This is a trader’s shop. Many kinds of deals are found here, but –
Yah Sansar Haat Baniya Ki, Saude Bahut Bikayo,
This world is a market of traders, where many deals are sold,
Chatur Maal Chaugune Kone, Moorkh Mool Gawayo
The clever gain fourfold, the foolish lose even the principal
The clever gain four times and the foolish lose even the principal. What does one earn – the name of the Lord, service, and remembrance. These three things are earned. The fourth thing is turning the soul into the Supreme Soul. The foolish, by indulging in luxury and comfort, continue to destroy and deteriorate the body. This is our daily message for human life. The message of this human life is to take the name of the Lord, serve, and remember Him.
We should keep our life virtuous and engage in good deeds. Only our deeds will go with us, nothing else can.
We all know that these notes, pieces of silver, or any materialistic items will not go with us. We see firsthand that even shrouds are removed in cremation grounds. In old times, if there were three fake coins, they would be kept on the offering, and even those were taken by the scavenger.
Human life has just passed away like this. We are wasting every moment for things that will not go with us. My dear ones! What greater loss could there be? If we do business, we do not lose the principal. If we do not get the full principal back, at least 50% is recovered. Something is always gained. But every day we are losing each and every moment, what are we gaining from it? Everyone knows that the material goods we are accumulating will not go with us. But the sorrow is that even knowing this, we do not accept it. Therefore, we should keep our human life virtuous. We should remember the Lord with every breath, desire to see Him, and do everything for Him. Only then can human life have some significance.
Otherwise, my dear ones! We are losing the principal. What is the principal? The good or bad deeds of our past lives, which we are continuously experiencing, while not paying attention to new virtuous deeds. In the comforts of materialism, the pleasures of materialism, the ultimate happiness of materialism, we are forgetting where we have to go. Oh, where have we come from, and where do we have to go, is certainly a matter of principle. We do not fully consider that we will not get a deal in that market until we open an account there. When the coins here do not work in America, how will they work there? When the currency changes even in this material world, a different currency will be required there.
Ratrigamishyati Bhavishyati Suprabhatam, Bhaasvaan Udeshyati Hasishyati Pankajashree
Night will come, the morning will happen, the sun will rise, and the lotus will laugh
The bee, intoxicated by the lotus flower, is enjoying its cool, gentle fragrance, unaware that the sun is setting moment by moment. The sun has set, but the bee, caught in the illusion of materialism, says – night will come. When the day has gone, the night will also inevitably come and it will be a good morning. The sun will rise, and this lotus flower will bloom.
The bee inside the lotus flower is thinking and waiting for the moment when it will enjoy the fragrance and sit on the opened petals of the lotus, buzzing around.
Ha Hanta! Hanta Nalineem Gajajuhara
Alas! Alas, the elephant uprooted the lotus
An elephant came from the jungle. It entered the water, drank the water, and then uprooted the lotus flower with its trunk. It uprooted the whole plant and started chewing it. My dear ones! When the elephant was crushing and eating the lotus plant, the bee inside it was also crushed along with it.
This human life of ours, for which we are weaving great dreams that if this happens, we will do this, and if that happens, we will do that. However, in thinking this way, we are reducing the strength of our life, shortening our lifespan, and time is.
Our wait will not last forever. When and where it will come, this is not determined. We do not know where and in which region our death will occur. When it will come and devour this plant-like body, no one knows.
This mind-like bee is enjoying the pleasures of the world, but even this bee will not realize when it will be devoured by time. All the dreams that have been cherished will remain as they are. The dreams will remain unfulfilled, but the closeness to God that we were supposed to reach, or the attainment of God for which we were sent, or the duties of human life that we were sent to perform, we will be deprived of those. If we remain deprived, my dear ones! We will once again enter the cycle of 8.4 million life forms, counting one, two, three, and four. It takes an entire kalpa to go through these life forms. The soul suffers the torments of hell for eons. After that, who knows when it will attain human life again. Therefore, we present this memory of humanity, this remembrance of humanity, this purpose of humanity to you all. Hence, we say every day that any time, auspicious moment, or auspicious occasion can come.
A saint used to visit a certain family. The family was very civilized and polite. They used to serve the saint. The saint said, “Son! You are very poor, you have become impoverished, and you are living in great sorrow.” He replied, “Yes, Maharaj, this is the result of my past life’s deeds, so there is no need to worry about it.” The saint said, “Yes, son, you are right, but saints can also help. He said, “Lord! As you wish.” The saint said, “Son, bring as much iron as you can.” He brought the iron. His neighbor, who was very clever, was also listening to this conversation. If the disciple of the saint collected one quintal of iron, the neighbor collected 100 quintals of iron. The saint said, “Son! Now both of you do one thing, and that is to chant a single mantra near the iron – ‘Iron, become gold; iron, become gold; iron, become gold.’ Keep chanting this and do not close your eyes.” The saint said this and left. Until twelve, one, or two o’clock, both husband and wife kept chanting with faith, ‘Iron, become gold,’ ‘Iron, become gold.’ The man then said, “Look, the saint himself went into the jungle to sleep and made us fools. Oh, foolish woman, by saying this, does iron ever turn into gold? This is foolishness. This is the act of an ignorant person.”
This is not a duty. Therefore, why get involved in this cycle? Why spoil the night, just sleep. Both of them went to sleep.
The neighbor insisted that even if the saint’s statement turned out to be false, even if it was assumed so, what harm would it do to stay awake for one night? Oh, we go to plays and other shows and stay up late. If we start fighting with a neighbor, we don’t let them sleep all night, and we don’t sleep either. We spend nights like that. Let’s keep doing as the saint said. He told his wife that whenever he starts to doze off, she should splash cold water on his face, and he would do the same for her. They kept saying, ‘Iron, become gold; iron, become gold.’ In the early morning, at the auspicious time, the moment arrived, the entire 100 quintals of iron turned into gold, a heap of gold was made. They took it and brought it to their home. The poor man remained poor, and the neighbor became a billionaire.
My point is, my dear ones! If we remember this every day – remember what? If we only remember the body, whether we remember God or not, it’s your choice, whether you give charity or not, it’s your choice.
But this body, which God has given us, we should keep remembering it. First, think about who I am. If I am Shambhudyayal, Swami Sudarshanacharya, then where have I come from? If I have come from somewhere, then I must have been sent here to do some work. And am I doing that work or not? If we say that God has sent us to bear children, to educate them, to make them work, to give them good clothes, good food, then pigs and dogs are no less than us in this respect. A pig gives birth to 12 piglets at a time. So in producing children, other species are like us. We should think about what the true purpose of humanity is. We should keep reflecting on this, keep remembering it. And when we realize what the actual work is that we have been sent to do, and we are not doing it, but instead, we are doing other things, then we should gradually reduce those other activities and devote more time to the work for which we have come here. This is remembrance.
My dear ones! I say this every day because any moment, any time, any opportunity may come when humanity can awaken inside a human.
It will come. We are humans, but there is no humanity inside us. Inside us, 99% is filled with demonic traits. Oh, to be angry is the work of demons, not humans. Demons are envious, not humans. Lust, anger, pride, greed, attachment, all these are demonic tendencies. We do not have even a trace of humanity, maybe a little bit. We are involved with children. This is not humanity. Animals are also engaged in the same tasks that we are involved in. Accumulating more and more wealth is like a snake sitting on a treasure. You must have seen ants. I am born in a farmer’s family. I know when there is grain in the threshing floors, ants come and collect tons of grain overnight. They collect more than we do. We are not ants, we are humans.
What should we accumulate? We should settle all the penances of past lives and accumulate good, noble deeds. We should accumulate humanity. We should accumulate the name of that God. The pearls of holy company should be with us because in that realm only these pearls will be of use, our gold and silver coins won’t be valid there. We consider real coins to be worthless, a sham. They say that a person deceives with fruits. We have wasted our time in vain, my dear ones! The real earning that is happening now is what is called “hoarded pearls.” But these hoarded pearls belong to that realm. The hoarded pearls of this realm are to remain here. The hoarded pearls of that realm will remain here and also work there. They are valid in both places.
With good deeds, a human enjoys heavenly pleasures there and then takes birth in humanity again. How wonderful it is that the currency works in both places. We should not just accumulate the currency of materialism, but also the currency of spirituality. We should always keep this in mind.
Just now, a little child sang a very beautiful devotional song in front of you – ‘Krishna Kanhaiya Naale Pyar Jedda Payega.’ How beautiful the devotional song is! Through your devotion, your worship, and great sacrifices, whether you attain God or not is not guaranteed because even a good yogi can become corrupt. Lord Krishna has said in the Gita –
‘Srimatam Shucimatam Gehe Yogabhrashto Bhijayate’
“The one who has fallen from the path of yoga (yoga-bhrashta) takes birth in the homes of pious and prosperous individuals”
A human can fall from yoga. Pride can come in the charitable, fame can come, but ‘Krishna Kanhaiya Naale Pyar Jedda Payega,’ whoever has loved that Lord Krishna, has attained His love, his salvation is achieved. Because God also says this –
Jaanahu Ek Pyaar Kar Naata
“Know only one relationship of love”
I don’t know any other relationships, neither am I someone’s uncle, nor am I someone’s aunt, nor am I someone’s dad, nor am I someone’s mom, nor am I anything else. I only know the language of love. God does not understand any other language.
Naaham Vasaami Baikunṭhe Yoginaam Hṛdaye Na Cha,
“I do not reside in Vaikuntha, nor in the hearts of yogis,
Madbhaktāh Yatra Gaayanti Tatra Tiṣhṭhaami Naarada
Where my devotees sing, there I dwell, O Narada”
Narada! I do not reside in the hearts of yogis because yogis develop pride in their yoga. Where there is pride, I do not reside. I do not stay in Vaikuntha either because in Vaikuntha there are many kinds of disturbances to me – of creation and destruction. Therefore, I am less available there too. So Lord, where do you stay? God says that where people gather, sit together and lovingly chant my glories, I am found there. Narada asked, Lord! In congregational chanting and glorification? God replied, no, I am not found there either. I am found where there is love –
Jaanahu Ek Pyaar Kar Naata
“Know only one relationship of love”
I only know the relationship of love and know little of other relationships. A donor can take as much as he wants from me, he has given a donation, so he will take a donation from me. I give more respect than necessary to the one who gives me respect. Oh, did I give less respect to Vibhishan?
Ravana performed intense penance for Lord Shiva. God says, I gave him the golden Lanka while laughing. The one who gives respect can take respect from me. The one who donates can take a donation from me. The one who performs sacrifices can fulfill material desires or become Indra by performing special sacrifices, but if one wants to attain me, I know only one language, and that is the language of love.
To attain me, love is necessary. If a person loves with sincerity any deity like Lord Rama, Shiva, Krishna, Narayana, and calls out with a loving voice, that Supreme Being stands at that very moment and place. Prahlada lovingly remembered the Lord, and God appeared in the heated pillar. Draupadi, with affection and love called out, “Oh Lord! Now you are mine, I have no one else.” Immediately, He came in a sari. The potter called out that by mistake, I had placed the kittens inside the kiln, they should not burn. Lord, protect them, otherwise, your honor will be tarnished. He called out with love. The kittens were saved. The lapwing called out with love. The battle of Kurukshetra went on for eighteen days, but no one stepped on its eggs. Tell me, when He protects animals and birds, why wouldn’t He protect humans? Humans are His true form. The child just said that whoever has loved Krishna, is saved, whether they have done more or less chanting, donation, sacrifices, or good deeds, that is a different matter. During love, the Gopis made Krishna dance, made Him beg for buttermilk. For whom? For buttermilk.
Taahi Aheer Ki Chohariyan Chhachhiya Bhar Chhaach Pe Naach Nachaavein
“The cowherd girls make him dance for a bowl of buttermilk”
And they turned God from man to woman. Many times, Lord Krishna went as a Gopi, many times as a doctor, many times as Lalitarin. Why? Did He need to pretend? Even if we do not consider Him as God, He was the son of Nand. Nand was the king of that time. Among the nine Nands, one was King Nand. That king he was the son of a king, lacking nothing. But due to being driven by love, he had to do many things. Let us not treat this as a song but imbibe the idea that the Supreme Being does not get pleased without love. Reading various scriptures can give you wisdom, but not knowledge. Sitting in good company can give you knowledge, but not discernment. Sitting in spiritual company can give you discernment, but not salvation. Salvation, my dear ones, will be found only in love. Therefore, let us bring humanity to human beings. Fill this human life with the language of love.
Sometimes we see that the language of lovers is like that spoken in a police station, filled with abuses. We need to learn the language of love. The language of love is a symbol of humanity, a mark of humanity. Harsh language is a mark of demonism. Anger is a trait of demonism.
Love, affection, peace, and humility, this is humanity. The Supreme Being has sent us here as humans, not as demons. Oh, even if we do nothing else, let us fulfill the duties of humanity. But we are moving away from even the qualities of humanity. Therefore, my message is, to say that we should not distance ourselves from humanity. If we distance ourselves from humanity they will become demons. You all know what the fate of a demon is.
We can sense where Yamaraj’s stick will land on us. From their side, even if we get a brain hemorrhage, they won’t care. They won’t see our eyes or teeth to think about how the poor person will eat. And there, we can’t file a case for broken teeth or brain hemorrhage because it’s their dominion. They judge themselves and also do the beating. We will go to such a place where no one will listen to us. We won’t find any hakim (traditional healer), vaidya (physician), or doctor there. There, the principle is that they don’t give relief when the breath stops; instead, they beat more. They can take us to the interesting hell, the great interesting hell, the Kumbhipak hell, or anywhere. There are many kinds of hells.
In the Kumbhipak hell, it is such that there, they will whip, and the soul will wriggle. And more whips will be left. At that time, prayers won’t work. They will only say that when you were consuming meat, didn’t you feel bad about what you were doing? There, beating continues, and various kinds of severe pain are given. There, no one listens. Those are hells.
Dad will not come, mom will not come, aunty will not come, and uncle will not come. No one else will come there. Only one support will be there. The power of the Guru will be there and those who have performed actions with faith in the Guru’s words will be saved. There will be two witnesses there. There is no third.
The power of the Guru is omnipresent in every atom and particle. It pervades words, earth, sky, and the underworld. Pick up any religious scripture. Any religion, but they all have taken the support of the Guru. Be it called a disciple or something else. The one who connects the soul with God is the Guru. We can call it by any name. The Guru is present in heaven, hell, and the mortal world. Even Yamaraj remembers the Guru daily.
Guru Bin Bhavsagar Tare Na Koi,
Without the Guru, no one can cross the ocean of existence,
Jo Biranchi Shankar Sam Hoi
Even if one is like Brahma or Shiva
The Guru is found in Brahmalok, Shivalok, and everywhere. Instead of punishing those who follow the path shown by the Guru, Yamaraj will welcome, thank, and say welcome to them. But he will say this only if they move towards humanity. By following the Gurus, and acting on their words. If they have faith in them and follow them. You will escape from those messengers of Yama. This daily message is said in front of you all.
The Supreme Brahman, the Supreme Soul, has created human life in a unique way. And among all the species, it has made some special attributes in this species. It has given more knowledge and wisdom to humans. The other species are made to enjoy pleasures, but humans are also given the strength to perform actions. And the species cannot perform actions. By giving this invaluable human body, that Supreme Soul has sent us here. It has sent us so that, human! You go there and perform such auspicious deeds, perform such good deeds that your cycle of birth and death is always freed. And you remain in my feet forever. But, dear ones! It is a matter of great sorrow and great pain that the 84 lakh species that are working, we are also doing the same work exactly.
Other species are running day and night to fill their stomachs, they are running. We are also doing the same work. Other species sleep peacefully, we also sleep. And the species are producing offspring, we are also doing the same.
We are also building homes like other beings. Some dig the ground and make burrows, others build nests. They are arranging everything for their living. They are also arranging food and drink. Even if we consider them inferior, they are much better than us. They eat and drink whatever they find, but if we stand in front of a wild boar, one boar can kill 100 people. A wild boar is sufficient for 100 people. All the animals you see are strong. This proves that they eat more nutritious food than us. They are not afraid of income tax, government laws, or getting their nests approved by the government. No HUDA officials come to them, nor do any complex officials. They are free from many hassles. We have adopted many hassles. Even if we adopt hassles, there is no harm, but in running after these hassles, we should remember the Supreme who sent us here with this body. He didn’t say to go there and indulge in pleasures. He didn’t say to quarrel with neighbors. He didn’t say to create chaos in the country. He didn’t say to be hostile to anyone. He sent us saying, “O being! Go to the earth and do good deeds. ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – consider the whole world as your family and do as much good work, virtuous deeds, and benevolent actions as you can.”
My dear friends! Perhaps some of you might not have liked the words I have spoken. We think of ourselves as Ravana, believing that whatever we do will happen. At home, we say that whatever I do, will happen. Oh brother! Which Ravana of Kaliyuga are you born as? A human doesn’t say that. A human says to do whatever seems right to you. But when it comes to household tasks, we put in all our efforts and turn away from the name of God. We consider it a sham, a pretense, and nonsense. But my friends! Here, we may believe whatever we want, whether it is valid or not, but when we come into the grasp of Yamaraj (the god of death), then we will realize what we have done.
Many of you believe that no one is watching here. Whatever I am doing, no one else but me sees. My friends! There is a deity named Chitragupta in this body, who, in caves, in the dark, in the light, secretly, openly, in any way, keeps noting down whatever you do. No one can prove it false. Oh, even scientists have created meters. The government installs meters outside the door, and inside, whether your AC runs, or your heater runs, or the one who comes does not enter your house; he does not go inside. He only takes the meter reading from outside and sends the bill. No matter how many times you say that you have not used electricity, they will say that they do not know whether you have used electricity or not, but our meter is saying that you have used electricity. Similarly, consider Chitragupta a deity, as the meter of your body. Every day, the actions we perform, the thoughts we think, they all get recorded, just like a super meter. When that meter opens in front of Yamaraj, my friends! We will not be able to deny anything there. To avoid being beaten at the gate of Yamaraj, we should prepare now.
You people who are sitting in the forest in the name of the Lord, doing satsang, this satsang is the first means to meet the Lord. After satsang, the second means is remembrance. The third means is service. Service, remembrance, and satsang are the three means to reach the house of God; they are the means to avoid the beating of Yamaraj. Those who practice these will attain welfare. As for how you wish to act, you will act accordingly.
We have recognized every object through someone. Through the mother, we learned who the father is, and we accepted it, regardless of who he was. Whether he is the father or not, what guarantee do we have? But we accepted it through the mother. We accepted every relationship and kinship through the mother. Moving forward, we accept social objects recognized by society. Then why do we start doubting the scriptures? Many say that certain sages wrote wrongly in certain scriptures. Oh, foolish soul! Those sages were much more advanced than you. When you accepted your father on your mother’s word, why shouldn’t we accept what is said by the scriptures and the saints, who are our spiritual parents, siblings, and relatives? Shouldn’t we accept what they tell us?
It is determined through the words of the saints that the human body is invaluable. Even the gods pray day and night to the Almighty for this body, saying, “Oh Lord! We have made a mistake.” What mistake did they make? They left the heavens, which are like a glasshouse, and came here. My dear ones! This is no laughing matter, it is the truth that a place like heaven, a glasshouse, cannot be found anywhere else. Where this soul becomes inactive, it is a big glasshouse be? After becoming inactive, it can do nothing – no sacrifices, no donations, no meritorious deeds. If you ask the gods, “Oh Lord! Please let us listen to satsang,” they will outright refuse. What if we tell the gods to come as our sacrificial priests? They will say that such tasks are for the earthly realm. They will say we were foolish to have asked for this heaven.
A glasshouse like heaven, no other realm is as sorrowful as heaven. These gods cannot stay there peacefully for even a moment. Here, a man can sleep peacefully. They have to be prepared for battle twenty-four hours a day. The battle between gods and demons has always been ongoing. The poor ones have been driven into caves. After obtaining all kinds of comforts and amenities, they find nothing but rocks in caves. They don’t even get roots and fruits. Now you tell me, is it sorrowful or not? In front of heaven, another line is written –
Jab punya samapt ho jata hai, to ve nashvar sansar mein laut aate hain
When merit is exhausted, they return to the mortal world
Oh Lord! You have performed good deeds. On their basis, you have attained heaven, but this merit will continue to diminish. When the merit is exhausted, you will have to return to the mortal world. Nowhere is it written that you will come to the mortal world and become human.
In the Shrimad Bhagavatam, Angira Rishi is telling a story to King Dhumraketu, to King Purujan. At that time, he mentioned that Brahma has been an ant 17 times. If someone like Brahma can become an ant, then what to say about others?
This human body is obtained at the end of 8.4 million life forms. It is rare even for gods. It is a house of means, a door to salvation. Other life forms can only enjoy, they cannot perform deeds. The human body is such that it is two-in-one. It reaps the results of past actions and performs future actions. Other life forms cannot perform actions. Having attained such a vast, rare life form, we are wasting moment by moment on the objects of materialism.
Every person knows that the objects of materialism will not accompany us. They will not go with us, this is certain. We know this well, but the lament is that we do not believe it. Oh, we accepted the father’s relationship based on what the mother said. We used to ask our mother for sweets, but the mother gave us jaggery. We accepted it. The habit of accepting is ours, but we are forcibly not accepting the existence of God. We used to accept a piece of jaggery while crying. If we cried more, when the bioscope man came, our mother would say, “Look at this.” She would say, “Take this money and watch the bioscope.” The bioscope man would say, “See the whole world sitting at home, see the Qutub Minar of Delhi, see the Meena Bazaar of Bombay.” I have seen it, that is why I am saying. They say, “See the whole world sitting at home; see this ‘dead man’s’ Shivaji.” Shivaji would appear. In the end, he would say, “See the washerwoman of twelve minds; game over, money digested.”
My dear ones! Since childhood, we have the habit of accepting things. If the mother said something, we accepted it; if the father said something, we accepted it; whatever our teachers taught, we accepted that too. We are just not accepting this one thing, that there is a God. We are messing up because of this. Here, we are doing as we please. When we accept 99 things, let’s also accept the 100th thing that there is a God.
The bioscope I mentioned, my dear ones! That is why –
Naaham Vasaami Baikunṭhe Yoginaam Hṛdaye Na Cha,
I do not reside in Vaikuntha, nor in the hearts of yogis,
Madbhaktāh Yatra Gaayanti Tatra Tiṣhṭhaami Naarada
I dwell where my devotees sing my name, O Narada
God says, O Narada! I reside in that very place, this is my promise, my resolution; whether it is a forest, a dense jungle, a dirty place, or a good place, it doesn’t matter to me; but wherever my devotees sing my praises, hold satsang, I am always present there. I will definitely be found there. This can never be false, it is true.
The meaning of the bioscope is that it is a box that is closed on all sides. It has several lids that are opened at the time of showing. Similarly, this is our body. It is like a bioscope. It has 10 doors. The body is 75% water, but can you show from which door water is coming out? Does water come out of the nose? Does water come out of the mouth? Does water constantly drip from the hidden organs? God has created such a fine system. Water only comes out according to the rules, even though it is filled with water. This is indeed a bioscope. As long as our vision is upward, we will not see anything. And if we close our vision within the bioscope on all sides, we will see everything. The meaning of closing is – lust, anger, attachment, greed, ego, and envy, the five sense organs, and the five organs of action. To manage all these
Place your hands on the bioscope and feel it. The two hands symbolize faith and belief. Place both hands, symbolizing faith and belief, on that Supreme Being to have His vision, so that doubt does not arise in you, disbelief does not arise, and the objects of materialism do not distract you. Therefore, place the hands of faith and belief on the eyes of knowledge. Then look into the bioscope.
My dear ones! There is another important point to consider. A bioscope cannot be shown without the handler, the performer, or its owner. If you try to look inside without them, my dear ones! It will be a waste of time. You will keep looking at the bioscope, but you will not find anything. When the handler, performer, or owner is on top, he will keep turning the key. “Look at the Qutub Minar of Delhi and immediately see the Meena Bazaar of Bombay.” To see inside the body-like bioscope, you need the handler, performer, or owner in the form of a guru. Without them, the bioscope is just a box. To see the bioscope, a guru is necessary. When the guru blesses, you can see the entire world while sitting at home. Heaven, hell, the ancestral world, the world of the dead – you can see all the worlds from home and enjoy. Wherever you need to go, you will get there by the grace of the guru. If the handler says, “Let us see the washerwoman of twelve minds,” he will stop right there and say, “Look.”
There are very large machines in our body. Those machines are so large, so good that they allow you to see the three worlds and the fourteen realms right here, and the path you need to follow is also inspired from within them. This is the goal of our human life. If we focus on the bioscope-like body, my dear ones! Certainly, this human life will be uplifted. Instead of being upward-facing, we will become downward-facing. Only by being downward-facing will that divine view be visible. It cannot be seen from an upward view. This can fulfill the goal of our life, otherwise, we are losing the game of life. We will surely receive the happiness or sorrow of the deeds we have done.
Soi Parar Dukh Paavahi Sir Dhuni Dhuni Pachhtai,
Suffer pain due to other’s sorrow, hitting head repeatedly in regret,
Kaalahi Karmahī Ishwarahi Mithya Dosh Lagaai
Blaming falsely on time, actions, and God
The soul will say that I did not have time for remembrance, did not have the right condition. But nothing will be heard there. Yamaraj is illiterate. They will just say that you had human life, was sent. What did you do for us? If the soul says it built a house or did some materialistic work, there will be no hearing. There, it will be asked what you did for God and what you brought for Him. Here, one might be forgiven after asking for pardon, but not there. They are absolutely illiterate and merciless. Their language is like that of a stick-wielding ruffian. It’s better for us to understand this truth today: what did we do for God and what will we take for Him. This is the ultimate truth, an irrefutable truth.
Without fulfilling the duties of human life, our human birth cannot be successful. The purpose of this human life, its goal, is one – peaceful progress. Until the soul moves towards peace, its cycle of birth and death will continue. There is a veil between the Supreme and the soul. And that veil is illusion. A chickpea has a thin peel on it. It doesn’t weigh much. If the peel is removed and the chickpea is sown in the field, it will not sprout. Even a peanut has a thin shell. But if that thin shell is removed and the peanut is sown in the ground, it will not sprout. It will decay, rot. It is even finer and thinner than that of wheat; you can’t even tell it’s there. If it is removed, the wheat will not grow. Similarly, there is a very thin layer of illusion between the soul and the Supreme. If we remove that layer, or if it is not fully removed, or is only partially rubbed off, then this seed of rebirth, which keeps sprouting, will not grow.
This soul is entangled in deeds. What kind of deeds? Those done for materialism, in which it is entangled. If it gets slightly detached from this entanglement, my dear ones! There will be no rebirth, and human life will be fulfilled and successful.
Deh Dhare Kar Yah Phal Bhai,
This body has been given, dear brother, for one fruit,
Bhajahu Ram Sab Kaam Bihai
Worship Ram and forsake all other tasks
The sole purpose of having a human body is to forsake worldly tasks and worship the Lord. The question arises, if we forsake worldly tasks, how will we fill our stomachs? If we remain limited to just filling our stomachs, there is no problem, but we have gone much further than that. We have become engrossed in worldly tasks. If we practice worshipping God a little bit more, this human life will become successful, my dear ones! “By practice and detachment, O Arjuna, is it attained.” Lord Krishna says, “O son of Kunti, Arjuna! Without practice, you will not achieve anything. Whatever you practice, those words will come out in the final moments.”
There was a businessman. He owned a clothing store. He would buy and sell clothes from morning to evening. Once, he fell severely ill with an incurable disease. The doctors advised complete rest. When he became very ill, he lost his memory. Even then, he was saying in his dreams – “Hey brother! How much are you paying for this shawl? Fine, not 200, give me 175 rupees.” Even in his dream, he was saying what he practiced. He tore the shawl he was wearing and said, “Take it for 150 rupees.” When his sons and grandsons came, they asked, “Father! There is no customer here. You have ruined a good pashmina shawl, causing a loss of a thousand rupees.” The businessman replied, “I didn’t know, I was just practicing as usual. When the customer was not willing to buy, I would forcibly tear the cloth and say, ‘Give whatever you want, but take it.'”
In this way, if we remain engaged in worldly practices, then as is our practice, so will be our fate. At the end time, our intellect, and our mind, will go in the direction where it is accustomed to, and we will attain that state.
99% of devotees focus on materialism. At the time of death, their mind is still entangled in materialism, and when phlegm clogs their throat, they gesture to their children. But the children do not understand. They want to write something about who owes what and who needs to be paid. But the messengers of death drag them away. Their mind remains occupied with taking and giving. They are reborn.
Once, Guru Nanak was traveling with his disciples. He had two beloved disciples, Dara and Mardana. They were always with him like a shadow. In a grain market, a goat came and started eating the grains. The shopkeeper began beating the goat. He took out the grains from its mouth. Guru Nanak stood there laughing. The disciples did not like that the poor goat had to be beaten so much to get the grains out, and there was a lot of blood. The disciples were confused about why the Guru was laughing. The condition of the goat was deteriorating, and Guru Maharaj was laughing. Guru Maharaj kept laughing. More and more thoughts began to fill the disciples’ minds. Guru Maharaj kept laughing. Guru Nanak then said, “O disciples! What you are thinking is not correct. A saint is never cruel.but I was laughing because I was thinking of letting this goat get beaten a little more. Now, I am letting it go. The disciples asked, “Why did you let it get beaten so much?” Guruji replied, “This foolish goat is the father of this boy, the shopkeeper who is beating it. I am telling the boy that this goat was your father. Tell me, you have three shops, right?” The boy replied, “Yes, sir.” Guruji continued, “Your father built those three shops and also opened the grocery shop. Does this goat sit only in front of your shop or somewhere else?” The shopkeeper replied, “Yes, sir, it sits only in front of my shop.” Guru Maharaj said, “This is your father. Son, I was laughing because he earned and collected so much for his family, did it dishonestly, did it stingily, because of which he had to become a goat. Now his own son is not letting him eat even one grain. Seeing this, I laughed.”
We are engrossed in materialistic deeds, attached to them. Oh, shopkeeping, business, farming, jobs, all these are necessary to fill the stomach. We have to do them, we shouldn’t starve to death. But do them only as long as their duration. Don’t dream about them at night.
Our India is becoming poorer every day; no one ever thinks about this. Other countries are progressing, why? The reason is that the mindset of our Indians has become contrary. When we go to the office, instead of doing office work, what do we talk about? Today my wife ruined my mood; she didn’t give me yogurt with the parathas. Oh dear man! Have you come to the office to work or to talk about yogurt and parathas? After three hours, it’s lunchtime. In between, there is idle chatter. This is the reason for poverty. If the country becomes poor, we will also be poor, and when we come home, instead of talking about home matters, we talk about the office. We say, I scolded him. I suspended the peon. Oh dear man! When you are at home, think about household matters. Talk about lentils and flour, talk about clothes, talk about the children’s education. We talk about the office at home and about home at the office.
When we sit to do bhajan (devotional singing), we say, Guru Maharaj! My mind doesn’t focus. Oh, you don’t focus your mind, how will it focus? During bhajan, you start shuffling office files, start doing business. When it’s time for worldly work, you start talking about bhajan. Our direction keeps getting contrary.Due to our contrary direction, poverty is continually coming before us. Otherwise, as per the definite command of the saints –
Jimi Hari Sharan Na Ekahu Baadha
Just as there is no obstacle in the refuge of Hari
After taking refuge in the Lord, after taking refuge in the Guru, not a single obstacle remains; this is true. Just as after a tree dries up, birds do not sit on it. When you become devoted to the Lord’s home, devoted to the Guru’s home, and do not keep your ego, sorrows will leave you, and you will attain peace and happiness. But our hearts and minds are becoming contrary. We blame God and the Guru. We say, our mind does not focus. Why doesn’t it focus, brother? We say that when we sit for bhajan, other thoughts come. Thoughts will come only when we think about them. If we do not think, why will they come?
Sit before the Lord and behold the Lord, behold the Guru. Why will other thoughts come? If other thoughts are coming, then consider that we are too entangled in materialism. Therefore, reduce materialism. Continue to move towards the refuge of the Lord. Certainly, there cannot be poverty in the home. Oh, when we become the husband of Lakshmi
Remembering the husband, will Lakshmi leave the house in anger? She never leaves. When we remember the husband, the great illusion (Mahāmāyā) will inevitably come along. How long will she remain upset – a month, two months, six months. Eventually, she will have to return. When we remember Lord Narayana, the husband of Lakshmi, and meditate on his essence, where will poverty remain? Poverty resides where there is no remembrance of the Lord, where there is no discussion of the Lord, where there is no vision of the Lord, where the Lord is not worshipped.
We should abandon the contrary path and do only what needs to be done. We should establish a rule to remember the Lord’s name every morning. Why should we shuffle office files at that time? Why should other thoughts come at that time? During office hours, do office work. Establishing such rules will surely bring prosperity to our home, surely bring the presence of Lakshmi, and poverty will certainly leave the house today or tomorrow. Where Narayana resides, how can poverty remain? Where Narayana resides, Lakshmi must come. When there is power, the devotee must come, this is certain. We should gradually correct our contrary intellect. Whatever work a person does, they should do it with full dedication and enthusiasm.
In foreign countries, the rule is that when a person goes to their trade, business, or office – for four hours, eight hours, whatever the rule is – during that time, they neither think of their spouse nor anything else. They are completely immersed in their work, doing what they need to do. Then, they forget about that work and move around like a hero. The wealth of that country, its trade, its money is increasing daily, while ours is decreasing due to our contrary mindset. Therefore, at the very least, let us think about our country. If not the country, at least think about our home. Let us work according to the time.
There is an experience, and there is a realization.
Uma Kahoon Main Anubhav Apna,
Uma says, I speak from my own experience,
Sat Hari Bhajan Jagat Sab Sapna
True devotion to Hari (God) makes the world seem like a dream
Experience is only done. Realization happens. Today, for experience, you see how the King of Jaipur used to sit, just like that we sit. We want to give direct evidence that a person who has complete faith in the Supreme Brahma (God) can stay adorned with such jewels all the time.
Today, we were going to discuss this topic, but no one asked. We were giving direct evidence that if you worship Lakshmi’s husband, will Lakshmi stay away from us? Because our faith is not firm, that’s why she stays away. Today, we have dressed in the guise of charity. We have garlands in our hands and around our necks. We have worn these to show that, dear devotees, you can believe in that Supreme Being by seeing us. Oh, this Baba does not go out of the door. People, the government, say many things. But we understand one thing: that the Lord, the supreme husband Narayana, the husband of Lakshmi, whose name is Lakshminarayana, Vishnu, whose name is the husband of Lakshmi, when we serve him with sincerity, then the form of Lakshmi will manifest in our ears, neck, hands, feet, everywhere.
I am sharing my experience. If you still don’t believe, then dear devotees, it is your misfortune, what can I do? If you believe, then this Guru is responsible, we are witnesses. When is blue dye applied? When do you apply the three-fold blue? Only when the dirt is removed from the cloth. Blue dye is not applied on dirty clothes. How is the dirt removed? With soap. So, it has become a principle that when the cloth is dirty, it is washed with soap.
And if the cloth becomes very dirty, greasy, we wash it in hot water with caustic soda, the greasiness will be removed. Our bodies have become deserving of caustic soda. Even if we pour 100 pitchers of water, it doesn’t have any effect because the oil is very greasy and the dirt has accumulated from sixty-four lakh lifetimes. Therefore, it’s difficult for the cloth to be cleaned in one day. Only by applying caustic soda will it be cleaned. The caustic soda is to surrender to the Lord. No matter how dirty, no matter how greasy, it will start to be removed. If needed, the Guru will put it in hot boiling water. When he sees it’s completely clean, he will apply the blue dye, and the whiteness will come. After that –
Aham Tvaa Sarvapāpebhyo Mokṣayiṣhyāmi Maa Shuchaḥ
“I will liberate you from all sins; do not grieve”
The Lord will destroy all sins and sufferings. Until we receive the grace of the Lord, our sufferings will not end. And this Lakshmi will not stay, who today is sitting adorned with flowers. They are sitting for direct evidence, otherwise, today is not some festival, nor are they going to a wedding. But today’s court’s intention was to show my devotees what faith can achieve and also what happens outside in the forest.
What can be said? Some call this body a smuggler, some a terrorist, some a revolutionary, some call it one thing and some another, but at this time I am a Faridabadi. For a certain period of this birth, I am Faridabadi. Who knows where all this body has taken birth.
As a Faridabadi, I wanted to show this direct proof: why do you not trust this place? When this place can give everything to a fakir (ascetic), why will it not give to you? I haven’t taken a contract for this place. Oh, wherever this body has been, Prem Kumar! (Addressing a disciple) What did we tell you? Prem Kumar, it is our wish that this body must be left. We want to create something in this area that, whether we stay or not, this place will become self-sufficient and will be giving to all. This resolution has been there since the beginning. Now we are giving you an example of it. Baba! (to a disciple) In your village, we have our understanding. Do you just keep one chilam (a clay pipe for smoking) or do you do something else? And how much labor do you take from us for filling one chilam? In one chilam you say, my child is sick. The doctor asks for two thousand rupees. In one chilam, we gave you the benefit of two thousand, meaning to say my sentiment is that wherever we have taken birth, we have established such places that there is no need to go anywhere else. Go there, serve, and immediately get results, immediately get paid there. This is my sentiment. Therefore, we want to make this place self-sufficient. This place itself should start working, like Baba’s village Tagan. We took Samadhi there at a young age. Now, age is increasing because we have to do more work. The area has expanded, so we have to do more work. Therefore, the great government is not giving us leave yet. Actually, our leave was set for October 26, 1993. But then the time was extended again.
What I mean to say is, just believe by seeing with your own eyes once. When it rains every day here for an hour and a quarter, why wouldn’t it rain at your house? But it doesn’t because you don’t believe. This body has belief.
Whether we believe it or not, that Supreme Being exists. If we say the sun is a ball of fire, it remains the sun. Call that power Giridhar (one who holds the mountain) or Murlidhar (one who holds the flute), it makes no difference. Giridhar is a great thing that he lifted the mountain. The flute is small, but it is equally significant.
It doesn’t matter if you call Him Murlidhar. But do say it. My point is, start believing in this place with true feelings. When this place is fruitful in every way, when it is like Kamadhenu (the wish-fulfilling cow), why wouldn’t it give to you? Just think about it. You see that supernatural things come to this mountain, who brings them, where do they come from? Someone is bringing them, have faith in that. Even if you don’t know him, know this place. Have faith in this place; this place takes the responsibility of your Annapurna (Goddess of food), it will never let you lack food, we have claimed this many times. But the sorrow is that even after beating the drum of proclamation, you people do not believe, which is painful. Therefore, today we are sitting here in person, now believe it.
The goal or ultimate purpose of our human life, or the achievement of our life, is one- Shantimadhigacchati (attainment of peace). Lord Krishna is telling Arjuna that until this soul gives up ego and attachment, it will not attain complete peace. And that complete peace is- the Supreme Brahman. The sound remains in the river until then, it does not merge with the sea. The river loses its identity when it merges with the sea, losing its name. Then its babbling sound ceases. True peace is that which leaves nothing remaining after it is attained.
Wherever the word ‘more’ appears, my dear ones, there is unrest, not peace. In any phrase where ‘more’ is attached, whether it is a house, wealth, or sons and daughters, it signifies unrest. Similarly, in materialism, the word ‘more’ is used. As long as the word ‘more’ is used, there will be no peace. When the ultimate reality is attained, nothing remains. When the Supreme Being is attained, what remains? The ultimate goal of human life is to attain that supreme reality. Losing one’s identity is the attainment of the Supreme Brahman. This is called liberation, surrender, presence, and ultimate peace.
We should gradually turn towards ultimate peace. Distribute time wisely. Allocate some time for materialism and some time for spiritualism. If spiritualism seems too harsh, then dedicate at least twenty-four minutes out of twenty-four hours to it.
Add salt to the vegetables. Our scriptural authors and teachers believe that, O human, O living being! Firstly, your birth has been for the complete surrender to the Supreme Being. If you can’t do that much, if you think poorly of spirituality, then just like a little salt is added to vegetables, add the name of the Supreme Being to your life, surrender to Him, take His name even in mistakes, take it in errors, take it in fights, take it in quarrels, but take His name; it is still fine. The saintly poet Tulsidas has given his full viewpoint in one verse of Ramayana, stating that life is bland. How is it?
Lavan Bina Bahu Vyanjan Jaise
Like many dishes without salt
Make dishes worth a hundred thousand rupees. Add paneer peas, add whatever you like, but don’t add salt to it, let there be a little less salt, then –
Lavan Bina Bahu Vyanjan Jaise
Like many dishes without salt
Other types of cuisines made are tasteless without salt. Our teachers believe that, O human, your life-like tasteless body needs salt in the right proportion, if not more, then at least 24.
If you concentrate for 24 minutes out of the 24 hours and venerate the feet of the Guru, you will certainly cross this ocean of existence. The fear of Yama (god of death) will not affect you. Yama will not come near you. Your name will be removed from Yama’s list. There are countless hells, and three main hells are Raurava Naraka, Asipatra Naraka, and Kumbhipaka Naraka. You will be saved from these hells. The condition is that if you write your name in the list of the Guru’s feet for 24 minutes out of 24 hours.
Every saint has said that the world is transient; there is nothing in it. We do not oppose those saints, but our opinion is that when we have come into the world, we need worldly things as well. If the Supreme Being has made us living beings in this world, like a fish cannot live without water, we need worldly things. Their fulfillment happens automatically after coming under the refuge of the Guru. However, it requires adherence to dharma (duty/righteousness). When a person’s dharma is broken, the attainment of things does not happen. Otherwise, every scripture, every saint, every sage, and every rishi has one commandment: after coming under the refuge of the Guru, obstacles start to disappear gradually. Just as the sunrise dispels darkness and brings light gradually, it happens slowly. In the morning, the sun
When the dawn occurs, it does not immediately spread full light. Gradually, the earth becomes fully illuminated. Similarly, it is very necessary for us to adopt peace. Through that peace and surrender, we can attain things that we can never even imagine.
In our Puranas, the mention of a sage named Kapav comes up. He was not an ordinary sage. He was a supreme scholar and an expert in scriptures, like Dronacharya Ji. In our materialism, only two fields of knowledge are considered primary –
Knowledge of weapons and knowledge of scriptures.
The scriptures state that we have only two fields of knowledge – the knowledge of weapons and the knowledge of scriptures. Sage Kapav was an expert in both fields. He had a son named Bhojya. In childhood, he asked for milk. When the sage’s son insisted on drinking milk, he began to cry. The mother ground some rice, mixed it with chalk, and gave it to the sage’s son. They were so poor that they did not even have milk. He was a great devotee of the Supreme Being and was proficient in all fields of knowledge. The child said after tasting it, “Mother! This is not milk.
The mother said, “Son, how do you know this is not milk?” The child replied, “I went to my uncle’s place. He gave me milk from his cow. This is not the same.” The mother said, “Yes, son! I ground the rice and mixed it with chalk to give it to you.” The child asked, “Why, mother?” The mother explained, “Son, your father is a great sage, a saint, a supreme scholar, and a complete ascetic. What can’t be obtained through penance and devotion? Your father says he has stored his merits with the Supreme Being, but he doesn’t take them. He says that if he starts taking, he will develop a habit of taking, and eventually, he will have nothing left. This is what your father says. She said, “Son, you should perform penance.” He performed penance and became a famous sage named Bhojya. Whatever he asked from the Supreme Being, he received.”
Will she send a plane to call you to her house? Or will she send a Mercedes car, and then you will go? Doing so makes the essence of our life disappear. We become indebted to that Supreme Being and those powers. When we become too indebted, we have to come back to repay the debt.
I have heard many lovers say that we have been chanting hymns since childhood. We have been in the guru’s house, in the guru’s refuge, yet we do not receive its fruit. My dear ones! The saints are not wrong in saying that the fruit of name remembrance, penance, and satsang is not received. This cannot happen. But the reason we do not receive it is that we take it in advance. When we have taken an advance, taken a loan, then we have to repay it. She is a big government. First repay the loan, then take more. Go to any moneylender, go to the grocery store, the custom is the same there.
My point is that no one should come to this place driven by greed. Greed will fulfill itself. When we move under the shade of the wish-fulfilling tree, every object will automatically be obtained. If we go to the riverbank, we will bathe, and they will drink and also take some to fill up. But reach the riverbank. The riverbank is the refuge of the Supreme Being, the riverbank is an interest in satsang, the riverbank is faith in the saints. That is God. Perhaps the lovers have not seen it, but having faith in the saints is the attainment of the Supreme Being. God has said:
Mote Adhik Sant Kar Lekha
“Most saints are accountable”
God says that whoever has seen the saints, trusted them more than me, accepted them more than me, seen my form in them, I surely grant them attainment. If this faith does not develop, then even if you chant the names of Ram, Krishna, Shiva, or Guru, nothing can be achieved. Attainment happens in firm faith, attainment happens in complete trust.
We have spoken about this place many times, said it in satsang too, not in daily satsang, but in big satsangs, as Lord Ram said:
Bhuj Uthay Pran Konh
“Who takes an oath with raised hands”
O Sage Vishwamitra! We raise our arms and take a vow. This incident is from the time when Lord Rama and Lakshmana went to the forest with Sage Vishwamitra, and Lord Rama asked Vishwamitra about the heap of bones. The sage replied, “Do not ask this, O Sage! I suspect that this is not a mountain; something else seems to be here.” The sage said, “Yes, Maharaj, these are the bones of sages.” Lord Rama asked, “So many bones?” The sage replied, “Yes, this is a heap of bones.” “Is there a rule that the bones of saints are to be thrown here?” The sage said that demons devour the sages and throw their bones here. This heap has accumulated here. At that time, Lord Rama took a vow –
Bhuj Uthay Pran Konh
“Who takes an oath with raised hands”
They raised their arms and vowed that until they destroy these demons, they will not find peace. Similarly, we have taken a vow on special occasions, in the name of that Lord, that we will not find peace until every follower of this place, namely Shri Siddhadata Ashram, is happy in every way. I am not the Supreme Being; I am just a humble servant of Him. But the master’s fourth. Even a servant of the rank can firmly say, if he is a trustworthy servant, that he can say on behalf of the master, as Angad Ji said –
Jo Mam Charan Sakahahi Satkaari,
“The one who sincerely takes refuge at my feet,
Phirahi Ram Sita Main Haari
Will always remain devoted to Ram and Sita”
What strength did Angad have to wager the honor of the Mother of the World? But he had faith in his master that if he planted his foot in the assembly, no one could move it. Otherwise, Angad’s statement would not make sense that he would lose Sita and Rama would return. He had no right to wager Sita, to bet on Sita’s honor. But he had faith in his master. Like Angad, we have complete faith in our master. And it will remain. Based on that, we have raised our hands and taken an oath that those who sincerely follow this place, their obstacles, poverty, and lack of food will not remain in their homes. But my beloved ones, do not come with the thought that a particular task of yours should be accomplished. Then our government becomes displeased. O good man! You made a vow, but you must uphold the righteousness of that vow. Therefore, let my beloved come with unwavering faith. We will not find peace until every follower here is completely prosperous in every way. But do not focus on that. Focus on satsang, focus on following, focus on remembrance, focus on faith. Do not let your faith waver because once faith wavers, nothing is gained. A person falls into a sense of inferiority and adopts atheism. This is what I have to say.
The true goal of life or the true duty of human life is to attain God. This soul has been traveling through 8.4 million forms of life, but their bodies are different. The soul is one. In the Gita, Lord Krishna says to Arjuna:
Nainaṁ Chindanti Shastrāṇi Nainaṁ Dahati Pāvakaḥ,
“Weapons do not cut this (the soul), fire does not burn it,
Na Chainaṁ Kledayantyāpo Na Shoṣayati Mārutaḥ
Water does not wet it, nor does the wind dry it”
Eternal and Immortal Morning
The soul is eternal, immortal; it does not die. However, it manifests in every form over time, takes birth, and enters various forms. The soul is present in all equally. However, the bodies are different. Among the 8.4 million forms of life, only the human form has the ability to perform actions (karma). It is only capable of experiencing the results of past actions. In the human body, one must endure the results of past actions, but it also possesses the strength to perform new actions. Among all forms of life, the human form is considered the most superior. If, after acquiring such a significant body, we waste it on meaningless indulgences and in an unproductive environment, then each moment, each second, is being wasted and going to loss.
Yah Sansar Haat Baniya Ki, Saude Bahut Bikayo,
“This world is like a marketplace, where countless deals are made,
Chatur Maal Chauguni Kino, Moorkh Mool Gawayo
The wise invest and multiply their wealth fourfold,
while the foolish lose even their principal”
This materialistic world is like a shop, and in this shop, “many deals are sold.” You can purchase many kinds of deals.
In olden times, shops were set up at fairs. There, it was written in bold letters – every item will be available for two and a half annas. So, this materialistic world is like that. Here, every item costs two and a half annas. By two and a half annas, I mean…
The meaning is that whether we engage in worldly tasks, breaths are still being expended; whether we fight, riot, or cause disturbances, breaths are still being expended. If we meet someone with love, breaths are being expended. If we perform a ritual, breaths are being expended. Or if we remember the Lord’s name, breaths are being expended. Breaths are inevitably going to be expended. The wise use their breaths to endure the fruits of their actions and perform new good deeds, which yield multiple benefits. The foolish, however, expend their breaths on materialism, knowing full well that these breaths will not accompany them.
There are two forms of illusion (Maya). One is for the benefit of others, and the other is for selfish purposes. The words we speak in a spiritual gathering should not be influenced by selfish Maya. Even if the neighbor dies of hunger, I want four types of vegetables. Destroying the neighbor’s business to fill one’s stomach is not right. Selfishness itself is the Lord of Maya. What we call God is also the Lord of Maya. However, His Maya is for us, not for Himself. Hence, use Maya wisely. But this Maya should be for the country, for the nation, for the benefit of others, for welfare. Who is stopping you?
Consider that we are servants of our family. Nourish and support the family with a sense of service. Do not serve the family out of attachment. Remain as a servant. There is an employee at a bank. If the bank catches fire or is robbed, will he cry? Absolutely not. He will report to the police that our bank has been robbed. Will he leave his job? Absolutely not. Will he stop eating? He will not. This is the meaning of Maya (illusion). Does he not take his salary from there? Similarly, we live in the world. We are doing business to support our living, which is necessary. Accumulate wealth, but do it for the welfare of others. Do it for righteousness, for the benefit of living beings.
Hymn
In the court of my Satguru,
Sorrows and pains are erased,
Those troubled by misfortune are embraced here,
This gathering is of the passionate, every devotee here is a fanatic,
Cups filled with the name of the Lord are generously served here.
In the court of my Satguru,
O people of the world, do not fear bowing your head at this door,
At this door, O naive ones, heads are offered in devotion,
In the court of my Satguru,
O people of the world, those who receive the special grace of the Satguru,
Only they receive the message and only they are called
In the court of my Satguru,
The days have passed without devotion!
Childhood was wasted in play, and youth was lost in pride,
For what reason did you lose your root, even now the thirst of the mind is not gone,
Kabir says listen, O brothers! The saints have crossed to the other side.
Summary
Human life is a unique and precious opportunity, emphasized by scriptures and saints as the only form where one can attain salvation. Saint Tulsidas, among others, has declared that human life is the gateway to liberation. However, if one remains entangled in worldly attachments and desires, they squander this divine gift and endure endless cycles of suffering and rebirth. The discourse explains that attachment is the root cause of all obstacles, leading one away from devotion and spirituality. True wisdom lies in balancing worldly duties with remembrance of the Divine, as attachment to relationships, possessions, and material gains leads to endless sorrow. Without spiritual realization, the soul remains trapped in the cycle of karma and reincarnation, wandering through 8.4 million life forms, experiencing suffering in various hells before receiving another chance at human birth. This cycle continues unless one learns detachment and surrenders to the Supreme Being.
The key to liberation lies in surrendering all actions to God, reducing attachment, and engaging in devotional practices such as satsang (spiritual gatherings), remembrance, and selfless service. A saint is not one who merely wears religious attire but one who embodies virtue, high ideals, and selflessness. True wealth is not material prosperity but the accumulation of devotion, good deeds, and the name of the Divine. The discourse warns against delaying spiritual pursuits, as time is fleeting, and the end is uncertain. It emphasizes that attachment and pride in worldly gains will not accompany the soul beyond death. Only sincere devotion, service, and faith in the Guru can guide one toward peace and liberation. The ultimate goal of human life is not material success but spiritual awakening, culminating in complete surrender to God and attainment of eternal peace.
