THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HUMAN FORM

If we hear Guruji’s discourses, the importance of the human form is a commonly mentioned topic. Often, we don’t give enough importance to this fact, which is why Guruji keeps repeating it. By the Grace of Guruji, I am trying to highlight the importance of the human form pointwise:

The Importance of the Human Form

  1. The Human Form is “DEV DURLABH:
    1. This means that even demi-gods (Devtaas) do not get the human form if they wish to. They do not have the power to take birth as a human. In fact, a human being can perform Yagyas (sacrifices) and become a Devta (demi-god), but a demi-god can do nothing to become a human being.
  2. Whenever the Supreme Lord Wishes to Come to This Earth, He Comes as a Human Being (Avtaar):
    1. Be it Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Lord Vamana, or even Lord Narsingh, who may have the face of a lion but whose basic form was human.
  3. Lord Krishna Clearly Says That the Human Form is the Closest Form to the Supreme Lord:
    1. The Supreme Lord has put most of His qualities into a human being. The human form is referred to as the son of God. In fact, if any human being is misled or on the wrong path, the Supreme Lord actually cries for him, just as a father cries for his son who has taken the wrong path in life.
  4. No Religious Activity in a Lifetime Can Assure a Human Form in the Next Birth:
    1. In no scripture is it mentioned that a human form can be acquired by some penance or religious activity. The only way a human form is achieved is when the Supreme Lord feels very sorry for a soul and, out of pure pity, gives that soul a human form so that it can perform activities to make itself one with God.

From the above points, it is quite clear how important the human form is. Of course, there are many more points to prove this. But somehow, we do not take the human form as important. So let us all, as devotees, put more importance on our human form so that we engage ourselves in activities with our Guru and the Supreme Lord in mind.

All our acts/deeds or karmas should be performed with the view that they are being carried out for the Lord. Whether it is a lady cooking, bringing up children, business, employment, or any activity whatsoever, it must have a final aim, which is for the Lord.

Summary

Guruji emphasizes the significance of the human form in his discourses, highlighting that it is a unique and precious gift that even the demi-gods (Devtaas) cannot obtain at will. The human form is referred to as “Dev Durlabh,” meaning that it is rare and difficult even for deities to achieve. Unlike demi-gods, who can aspire to become human through certain spiritual practices, humans have the opportunity to perform Yagyas (sacrifices) and can become demi-gods. The human form is also the chosen vessel for divine incarnations; whenever the Supreme Lord descends to Earth, He assumes a human form, as seen in the avatars of Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, and others.

Moreover, Lord Krishna himself states that the human form is the closest to the Supreme Lord, with humans endowed with many divine qualities, making them sons of God. The scriptures do not guarantee a human form in the next life through penance or religious activities; it is only by the grace and pity of the Supreme Lord that a soul is granted a human form. Therefore, devotees are encouraged to recognize the importance of their human form and engage in all activities with the Guru and the Supreme Lord in mind, ensuring that their actions align with the pursuit of spiritual goals.
