Divine Protection by Guru Maharaj on the Amarnath Yatra

I had the fortune of meeting Amar Das Guru twice. Before 1994, I had already accepted Shri Swami Sudarshanacharya Ji Maharaj as my Guru in both body and mind. After acknowledging Swami Sudarshanacharya Ji Maharaj as my Guru, I have never bowed my head to any other sage, saint, or fakir.
In July 1994, I expressed my desire to Guru Maharaj to visit Shri Amarnath Guru, and he immediately granted his approval. Accompanying me on this journey were Shri C.T. Sharma Ji (who has since merged with the five elements) and his wife, both from our Ashram. Our vehicle, under the protection of CRPF and BSF personnel, was traveling in a convoy from Ram Ban to Pahalgam. For some reason, the convoy (comprising about 200-250 vehicles) stopped on the way. Nearby, two Muslim men stood for a long time, reprimanding their companions.
As I got into my vehicle, these men began loading bullets into their cartridges. I later narrated this incident to Shri Guru Maharaj Ji, who explained that I had narrowly escaped death. He reminded me of a particular khir (a sweet dish) vendor named Khushbu Lal, implying that the men thought they would fire the bullets at me and others, but by Guruji’s grace, I remained safe.
Guru Maharaj reminded me of my first visit to Shri Amarnath Guru in 1972. Pahalgam is about 16 km from the valley. As I was returning on horseback, the night was dark and dangerous. Suddenly, the horse was startled by a noise and reared up. If the horse had placed its feet back on the ground, we would have surely fallen into the ravine to certain death. But even then, Guru Maharaj saved me. I asked Guru Maharaj why he helped me in 1972 when I hadn’t yet made him my Guru. Guruji explained that the Guru principle is always present for the disciple.
