Miraculous Recovery: How Guru Ji’s Blessings Helped Me Retrieve My Lost Green Card

For the past 20 years, my family has been blessed by the holiest of the holy, Shri Sidhdata Ashram. I have countless experiences of miracles and immense graciousness from Shri Guru Maharaj and the present Shri Guruji, but I would like to share a recent miraculous experience.

I have been living in the USA for the past 12 years and have a Green card. I usually keep my physical Permanent Resident card in the bank locker and only take it out when traveling internationally. After 9/11, it has become extremely difficult to replace a Green card, taking up to 2 years of investigation by the Department of Homeland Security. On one of the rare occasions when I had my Green card in my wallet, I needed to open a new bank account.

My job involves constant discussions with clients, hence a lot of talking on the phone. One day, I left work with my wallet in hand, and while on a phone call, I placed the wallet on the roof of my car as I took out my car keys. Distracted by the important client conversation, I drove off without realizing the wallet was still on the roof of my car. When I pulled into a gas station and looked for my wallet, I realized what had happened. Losing my Green card meant facing significant problems, including being unable to travel internationally.

Panic set in, and I started driving back along the route I had taken to work, hoping to find my wallet on the highway. I prayed, or rather cried aloud, to Guru Maharaj and Guruji for help. I must have driven back and forth 4-5 times, but as night fell, I returned home distraught. I prayed to Guru Maharaj and Guruji, accepting that whatever happened now would be their will. I researched on the internet and braced myself for the difficult road ahead to resolve this issue.

My immediate problem was getting a replacement Driver’s license, but the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) required my physical Green card to issue a new one. I prayed to Guru Maharaj and Guruji and went to the DMV, knowing they couldn’t legally issue a replacement without proof of citizenship. When my token number was called, I explained my situation to a kind gentleman. I expected a “Sorry, I can’t help you,” but to my amazement, he agreed to help and quietly issued me a new license. Anyone who has dealt with the DMV in America will understand this was indeed a miracle. It was a clear sign that Guru Maharaj’s blessings were with me.

Thanking Guru Maharaj and Guruji in my heart, I went to the bank to get new bank cards. While working with a banker, the branch manager approached me and said, “Hey Abhishek! How are you? I was meaning to call you. We got a call from the County Police Station; they found your wallet and called the bank from your cards to get your contact info.” I could not believe what I had just heard. I jumped up in joy, shouting “Jai Guru Dev,” and explained to the manager what had happened and what a miracle this was. How a police officer found my wallet on a busy highway and the department came looking for me is still a mystery to everyone I tell the story to. But in my heart and mind, I knew it was only the immense graciousness of Guru Maharaj and Guruji that such a miracle happened. This is one of the countless miracles I have personally experienced, no different from the many I have heard from other devotees.
